Ati 7870, 40 fps?
you can compare wow against running it on an older computer two to 3 years ago. You cannot compare wow with running on a newer computer verses running rift or Guild Wars 2.
It is apples and oranges.

@Rabbiddog sorry to hear that your are getting BSOD try doing a full driver clean see if that helps try downloading driver sweper and Ccleaner.
Driver sweeper

Ccleaner
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Uninstall your AMD drivers allso uninstyall PhysX aswell odds are it will be there somewhere alot of games need it installed to run, then boot in to safe mode and run driver sweeper then reboot and use the registry cleaner bit of Ccleaner, you might need to run that more than once for a full clean. Then reinstall your AMD drivers and install the latest version of PhysX aswell see if that helps.
Had a similer thing happen on my old 6970 just reinstallign the drivers ddint fix it but reinstalling PhysX aswell did the job, could allso be worth updateing your motherboard BIOS aswell as sometimes that can have compatability problems with some cards.
Also if you have a freind or familiy member with a powerfull enough PSU in there PC who would let you teest your card, then that would help rule out either the card or the PSU being fualty aswell.
Well MMO games are all very similer in the fact they are all very CPU dependant if your PC is strugleing with WoW, then the odds are it will strugle just as much in GW2, SWTOR or Rift as it dose with WoW, Even though it might run the new COD game or BF3 fine.
Ok I know different engine different game ect but MMO’s nearly allways tend to be pretty simmiler performance tbh with the CPU allways being the bigest bottleneck so it is easier to judge if your PC suxs running WoW or Rift then odds are it will suck just as much running GW2 or SWTOR ect
WoW is 10 years olds. You can’t be serious.
Do you mind to just stop to harrass this thread with your comparisons? Thanks.
Already been doing that. All temps are within norms, GPU and CPU are set to stock speeds (no OC), tried with CAP and no CAP drivers. All settings according to the Devs sticky. My computer still blue screens after about 5 minutes of playing GW2.
I’v had 3 friends with the excact same problem over the years ( last one 2 months ago). Crashing after 5 min in game after changed a piece of hardware. Solutions for all 3 of them: buy new PSU. They all had different psu’s with enough watts. But the different outputs from the psu had fault or couldn’t deliver to the new hardware. One of them (a year ago) even had a only 1 year old 600w psu. And the problem started as soon as he changed graphics card, no symptoms before that whatsoever. just like you. He got a new PSU and it worked.
Try another PSU. I can almost guarantee its the problem! . As i had much experience with that particular problem and what your describing is the psu. Either faulty or not enough umpfh!
This was an initial thought of mine since my new GPU comes overclocked and was thinking the voltages weren’t up to par for OC. But after setting the clock speeds back to stock and checking the voltages, everything is up to par. Couple that with the fact that so far, this has only been happening in GW2.
I have already been playing other games (some that are just as graphically demanding as GW2) and no blue screens. Logic and troubleshooting 101 would dictate that if it was a PSU issue, I would be having blue screens other times as well, which so far hasn’t been the case.

Already did that when I first installed the new card (see previous posts of mine).
Looking at BIOS now.
GW2 runs video cards much hotter than many other games, even games that are more taxing. I don’t think anyone has figured out why. Some cards default fan settings just aren’t sufficient. They need to ramp up earlier. Get an overclocking program and turn up the idle and low demand fan speeds. If you are overclocking and getting errors, turn the power back to default.
guild wars 2 will eat through gpu bandwidth easily. Art Assets are expensive to move through a pci shot and there is alot of unique art assets in guild wars 2.
Happy to announce my issue has been resolved with a BIOS update. A new version for my mobo was released this past October. I updated to that and no more BSOD’s in GW2. Played for 30 minutes straight without issue when it was blue screening within 5 minutes of playing previously.
@Lucas Ashrock
Your GPU is at 74% its not being fully utilize. Your core i5-3470 is running at 73% max usage, which means likely your CPU is bottleneck. Read Question #7-8 for details
Even with the bottleneck, your system should be able to get over 60fps in PVE. I’m running a slower cpu Q6600 @3.2 and able to get over 60fps at times in PVE.
Where you are measuring your FPS? Lion Arch or WvWvW? In those areas even people with OC system have hard time.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
LA is around 43 45, outside no more than 60 fixed. I think is a client issue
Q9: So my CPU is bottlenecking what now?
A: Three option. You can wait for GW2 to get better optimized and rely less on single thread performance. This will be difficult to change and might require a lot of code to be rewritten. Don’t bank too much on this happening soon.
Overclock your CPU. Doing so will increase per core single thread performance
Buy better hardware. Sad, but unavoidable if you want better performance.
My CPU is overcloked yet, so i’ll wait an update
OP doesn’t see to understand that his CPU can’t max the game.
You should definitly get more than 60, but if it stays fixed at 60 constantly out in the PVE or Heart of the Mist training area. Then I would say you have V-sync or frame limiter enabled either in the game setttings or outside in the drivers profile or maybe 3rd party tools like MSI afterburner.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
I checked, nothing is capped with external controls. Every other game would have 60 fps cap. My card is an asus, i don’t use MSI software

Others reported my GPU and an i7 with same exact performance.
I still don’t have access to NASA cpu.
