getting a black screen randomly between 5min-2 hours I have tried pretty much everything processor AMD fx 8120 eight core processor graphics card AMD ASUS HD 7670 I play with some settings at medium and the rest at low, vsync on and 60hz usually get around 40-60 fps been having this issue for a while with no fix, and it seems like a lot of people are, so hopefully anet can help out or do something about it, my router is a netgear router and I heard that can cause problems but that’s all I know, I used to play gw2 like 6 months ago without this issue but then I took a break, and know when I want play again im getting random black screens, I really need help with this issue, thanks.
forgot to mention that my gpu is going up to about 60 c and my processor is going up to 60 c aswell.

Same issue for me. It’s seems to be of Anets end. From other posts I read. It could be a memory error, GPU, or playing 32bit GW2 on a 64 bit OS.

Have had the same issue; random black screen crashes. These crashes happen even on low population maps. I usually have no use of my mouse either and have to reboot my pc.

I just press the windows logo on my keyboard and then close GW2.

I would make sure that your drivers are up to date and installed cleanly.
Other than that I am sure that you will not get help from tech support without submitting a ticket.

New card, Asus 7850, New drivers, and running very well on high for the last week..
An update happens and BLACK, BLACK, BLACK….
Iv also noticed some random internet sites crashing..

there was an update to ADOBE..did you know that?

I get the black screen too .. After i click play , I get the black screen for 7-8 seconds and then the game closes

Im getting an idea..
That When first connecting DURING an event, the game does not get solid PING/LAT..and keeps trying to get it but eventually lags out, and has not error control to tell anything..
almost as if the Optimization may not have been very good.

also many of the events are in BUSY locations with MANY NPC around. as well as, 40+ PC…and the event..I get a feeling its causing problems on the server side.
I get a BUMP every once in awhile that recovers the game. LIKE A DATA PAUSE..

But, with the Gov. having fun on the net…??

it seems that you have a damaged installed operating system .

solution
back up any static data that you want for any reason to loose and after that boot with windows cd /dvd to repair the windows

for win 8 I didn’t find a solution online except to restore from an earlier restore point

I was having similar issues. I’m experimenting now with reducing my power target on the video card. I’ll post results in this thread:
