ehhhhh; change it to the following

R9 270 (or 270x)
AMD FX 8370e (newer and higher binned then the old FX8350) or move on to an Intel G3258 or i5-4430

The 8370e is better then the 8350 as its lower TDP and performs close to an i7 in multi-threading and at about an i3 sandy in single threading. So the over all performance is better. But for this game, Intel is still better as the single core performance is 50% faster then even the FX8370e when comparing against haswell.

the R7 265 is a garbage GPU. For the cost you should be looking at the next tier up. r9 270/270x or a GTX760. Alternatively you can get either of these GPUs on amazon used for about 100~

I’d opt for anything Haswell i3 or even the i5 4430 as Sirsquishy said. I’ll politely disagree with the Pentium G3258. The i5 is leagues higher in performance than such a CPU.
An FX-8350 will run the game alright, will be enjoyable in some areas SPVP included but large player events and very complex areas it’ll eat dirt completely. Used one myself and ultimately changed to the i7 4770K a half year later because it was so dissatisfying. A haswell i3 or i5 will make the game much more enjoyable. Doesn’t have to be the latest and greatest either.

For running this game specifically, I don’t see issues arising with the R7 265. Not the worst and far from the best but it’s still capable of this game. Given the specs I’d place it somewhere around the Radeon HD 7790/7850 territory which is still decent. I have friends that play this game with little issue on HD 7770 graphics cards and they’re good on budgets.

AMD + GW2 = sucky preformance

i went from the FX8350 to the i7 4790l and ive gained 100% more FPS on average agross all areas of game play. stay away from AMD. go intel i5/i7 if you can afford

So you basically went from a $180 processor to a $300 processor and are comparing them as if they cost the same?

The G3258 is better than whatever i3 due to it’s unlock clock nature. In practical terms, all that HT gets you can be achieved with a slight overclock. And since that’s the difference between the G3258 and an i3-4xxx CPU, when discussing gaming, the G3258 is more than adequate. That said a true quad core i5 “is leagues higher” but so is the price as we are talking about going from $70 USD for a G3258 to $188 for a i5-4460 (same 3.2GHz clock speed).

We are heroes. This is what we do!

RIP City of Heroes

An $55 G3258 :-)

For $55 bucks you cannot spend your money better, when compared to ANY AMD cpu right now (as of 10/24/2014), that G3258 is going to get 2x’s to 2.5x’s the performance for GW2 over ANY AMD cpu, Period.
