Can we get some perspective?
Maxed settings
Roaming around 60-140 fps depending on zone
DE 50-60
Pvp 50-75
WvW 45-60
/ 2x XFX R9 290x in Crossfire
Keep in mind that FPS numbers (especially the high ones) are pretty pointless with out knowing the resoluiton people are playing at. The lower the resolution the higher they numbers will be with the same exact system set up.
With an I7 920 at 3.6 ghx, GTX 680 SC, 12 gb ram at 1920 × 1200 with everything maxed I average high 30s – 50 FPS running around Lions Arch. If I I turn shadows down I am in the high 60s to low 70s most of the time with drops into the 30s and 40s for big events.
My CPUs and GPU are running 99% usage.
I turned off AO in the nvidia control panel and set my GPU for phsyx to hit those numbers. Since turning off AO I no longer get the super low FPS drops when I change zones.

I find it’s really all over the place myself. I prefer to run vsync as I can’t stand screen tearing.
I get 50-60fps in most places in the world
30-45fps in places like Lion’s Arch
Phenom IIx4 975 @ 4.0Ghz
8gb RAM
Nvidia GTX 670 @ 1300/4350 (new 306 driver)
I find changing some settings makes little to no difference on the fps. I run all on Ultra except shadows as the performance hit vs visual difference is nill (so i run shadows on High)
Also anyone else find that certain particle effects (like say smoke from a mortar explosion) really hit the framerate for a second or so? Or mist/smoke fields in some ghost areas?
EDIT : I’m also running Supersampling instead of Native

Hey. I just realized how rude I sound above and it wasn’t directed at you. There is nothing worse than someone getting 140 fps, and spending days trying to find out why you can’t, only to find out they are playing at 1366 × 768 (true story).
Np I totally understand

I would like to add that in Orr in some places and zones with a lot of fog/smoke I do take a hit in my fps. It can go as low as 35-40 fps in those areas, which is frustrating.

I get 6-12 fps on max settings. 8-15 on low. In town and field is the same fps. I use 1600 × 900 i believe. Ive changed resolution. Fps remains unchanged if i raise or lower it.it seems last nights windows update messed something up for the game. I’m not the only one experiencing it.
I have 16 gb ddr3 ram, an i5 processor, and a 6850 for gpu. The game is also the only game running off of my SSD. I have tried running it off the hard drive instead but it made the fps drop to 2-5 instead.

I get 60fps everywhere. Dips to about 50 in the largest events in Orr. I haven’t played WvW yet though.
Occasionally, as in not always, I will dip to just below 40 when around a lot of torches. Mostly happens in LA, and doesn’t last long.

The 6850 is a plenty good card. Its almost definitely not the gpu’s problem. I used that card to play ffxiv on max settings which is far superior as far as graphics go with 50+ fps. Considering most of the people having the issues are using nvidia cards, i doubt the fps issue is based off the cards themselves.
It also would not explain why my game gets noticeably better fps when im on an overflow than when im on the normal server.

The game runs perfectly fine for me. I have no idea what you are referring to. Turning shadows down to low gets me about 10-20 fps which helps a lot when the game dips below 30 fps if I have it on.
