Hello there ,
since the first time i logged in into the GW2 i had some issues with my Computer Crashing. Its the usuall Crash with the sound loop like a beeper. I seem to find the problem happen on specific locations on the map. For Example i am always crashing at the same point into the Story Event at level 80. Its not an overheat or overclock problem since i can play for hours without crashing while i do events away from that place. Found it happening on other places too and lower-level Story Events but i played from a friend having a Mac PC and i crashed zero times on that certain place. I updated many times my Graphic Card Drivers and i am having the same issue. Is there any problem with ATI Graphic Cards?

I have been having this exact issue since the start of the 3 day headstart. I have searched for others with the same problem; however, have not found others (until now) with this exact same problem. Most crashes/black screens I hear about are just game crashes, not computer crashes. The only other computer crash problems I have found from others most people just respond by saying that they are overheating.

I was a bit worried I was overheating but don’t think I am. I played Tera since it launched up until this game came out and have never had any issues with it even though it seems to have more detailed graphics. Like Spigos, the first time I crashed it was at a certain point in an early story quest intance. Every time I restarted my computer and got back into the game I would crash again at around the same area of the instance. I eventually got through the quest at a friends house to advance the story. I had it happen again in another story quest a bit later; however, this time I quit playing for the evening and tried again the next day with surprising success. Since then every time I crash has not been in story quests, but it seems to always happen when I am either in battle or “fight for your life” mode.

I also notice the power supply section of my case seems to run a good bit warmer with GW2, which was a reason I thought I may be overheating (tracked my gpu and know for sure its not running too hot). I played some Tera today for a good hour just to compare the heat of the power supply and it seems that it works at about 50% cooler than it does when I play GW2. All this may only be in how GW2 is optimized so I really don’t know what to make of it?

My specs:

AMD Phenom II 965BE x4 3.4GHz
AMD Radeon HD 7870 (Sapphire)
8GB RAM
Windows 7 64 bit

Oh, and I also tried using anti aliasing once when I got a tip to try it. At first I thought it fixed it but in the end I crashed. I now play without AA again due to it not fixing the problem and it making my UI a bit wonky when turned on as well.

I am just glad to have found another person with this exact computer crashing issue as me and hope some help/support comes to this thread soon.

I should also mention that my computer crash is a black screen except for a few times it was vertical gray bars. Also, I do not believe I get any sort of beeping; however, I think at least sometimes there is a sort of low sounding high pitched noise, not sure though. If there is any sort of sounds it isn’t anything significant enough that I notice it.

Well its kinda the same… For the first time of my gameplay i had a computer reboot now. Seems the code behind GW2 is messing with the hardware or something. I just find it important that there is no other random crash. All the PC Crashes are black screen crashes and they just happen on certain locations or events… Thats what puzzles me… I hope we have at least an answer from any Administrator from ArenaNet soon…

Btw what does the commandline isrelaunch do? Have you tried to limit your frame rate either 30/60?

What makes you so sure this is an game issue? Doesn’t really sound like a game issue to me.

Have you done any specific stability testing on your pc? Have you check your loaded cpu/gpu temps?

Yes my Frame rate has a 60 fps limit. Tried even 30 and was the same. And i think its not a Hardware issue because i can play on other locations on the game and dungeons without even getting low FPS. I can play for hours and get no crash. Plus no other game , not rven the MMOs make my PC crash.

Some things to check;

Have you got the latest drivers?
Have you tried playing without Overdrive on in the CCC settings?
Does the crash happen on auto detect settings as well as best performance?
Have you got the latest drivers for your sound device?
Have you tried lowering sound quality in the game options?
Do you have any errors in Windows Error Reporting that coincide with GW2 crashes?
Have you checked component temperatures with something like RealTemp?
