Constant Crashing, Game Unplayable
Also, by crashing I mean it totally locks up the computer. It requires a hard reboot every single time.
So far, all I can get the game to do is run for a minute or two and freeze to a tan, lined screen. I can tell when it is going to do this because the fans all kick on full. I was thinking my power supply is failing? It does the same thing on Star Wars the Old Republic as well.
Any help would be splendid. Thanks!
Graphics card, hardware error if you’re getting visual corruption on the screen.
Monitor your GPU temperature in Catalyst Control Centre, it sounds like it’s overheating.
If you can (and it’s not under warranty) give your GPU fans (and the PC in general) a good dusting on the inside with compressed air. Make sure you hold the fans still!
Don’t let it carry on like that for too long, you’re at the point of permanently damaging the GPU.
Same thing – constant crashing. When is the issue getting fixed? Ever?
Or are we just supposed to carry on and endure this issue?

Constant crashing is not the game’s fault on its own otherwise it would be happening to everyone.
In the case of Simayi it’s a problem with his GPU – so Cailais, you need to be a bit more specific – what sort of crashes are you getting?
Zaxan – Screen ‘black screens’ occasionally drops to windows, sometimes recovers back to the game but often doesn’t and then typically crashes my pc forcing a hard reboot. On odd occasions I get an Nvidia kernel driver warning.
I have up to date nvidia drivers, moved the client to desktop, running on lowest settings. Not really sure what more I can do.

This has been my problem for the past 2-3 weeks, since one of the latest patches, too, although not as constant as you. This problem resembles the same issues I had during BWE3 and the stress tests. It had stopped fully crashing (to where I had to restart my PC) for ages, but the game would still try to crash me out, resulting in pixels appearing over the screen and the sound ‘jamming’, like some graphical lag spike. I’d experience this anywhere from 1-5 times a day. I still experience that, but the game will also completely crash my whole system where all I see is a flat colour take over my screen, and the sound reverberating, requiring a full reset/reboot.
My specs:
Running 1440/900 FS
Windows 7/64bit
Intel I5-2500k
GeForce GTX 570
8GB RAM
Turning down the graphics hasn’t helped. My drivers are up to date. I’m not sure what else I could do.
The first thing to try – completely remove your Nvidia drivers and install the latest ones from scratch.
From what you’re describing, the graphics driver is crashing for one reason or another – this is especially indicated by the screen going black and sometimes recovering and the Nvidia kernel error.
@Sporeo – does your motherboard have Realtek Audio? Make sure the drivers are up to date for that, because they are notorious for conflicting with Nvidia drivers. If you want to rule it out for certain, use the HDMI from your GPU for sound, and disable onboard Audio in BIOS.
I have the same problem and I have updated my drivers etc etc. It’s nothing wrong on my end. The game played perfectly the first few weeks. It’s the latests patches that have destroyed it all.
I pulled the video card and cleaned it out. The video card was never hot or anything. I also remembered that the computer would shut down at random sometimes. It has been doing that for a few weeks now and now it doesn’t run games at all. All except LotRO anyway. LotRO seems to run ok.
Also, by crashing I mean it totally locks up the computer. It requires a hard reboot every single time.
I’ve been suffering from this exact same problem for a month now. Here’s my latest response from the Tech Support Team that fills me with hope:
I get crashes when Playing pvp and it gets really hectic on screen. It will start lagging and music will buzz a couple times, lasting maybe a second each time, then it will just shut down my computer. Even if I run away it will shut down when there is nothing really happening on screen. Wvw I can not play at all, otherwise my comp will just buzz then shutdown. This has never happened before. It was after the latest update on Monday i think. Never happened before that. Luckily I can do pve until it gets really hectic like the fire elemental event.
