Hi there,
Like the topic says: I got troubles during gameplay which occur after taveling through a waypoint or when I walk in the big city, Divinity’s Reach. The game completely crashes and I get the possibility of sending a crash report. I did sent lots of crash reports and also created a support ticket but so far I havent received any reply or a solution.
Crash report:
—> Crash <—
Out of Memory: arena=Environment, cat=Map, allocBytes=24073184, arenaBytes=42984248, fallbackBytes=3582716, align=0 ,
App: Gw2.exe
Pid: 2728
Cmdline:
BaseAddr: 00400000
ProgramId: 101
Build: 15572
When: 2012-09-26T14:28:13Z 2012-09-26T16:28:13+02:00
Uptime: 0 days 0:04:14
Flags: 0
What I did try already:
- Re-installed the game twice
- Tried lots of different video settings
- Sent all the crash reports
My PC configuration:
Win7 32 bit
Intel i3-2100CPU 3.10GHz
8GB RAM
Asus NVidia Geforce GTX 560
Does anyone else encounter these problems or perhaps anyone has a solution for it
Thanks in advance for your reply’s.

Error report says it.. out of memory.
Upgrade to 64bit windows or use the 3GB hack in the meantime until you upgrade. I feel for the ram that has nothing to do.

Try this:
Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
At the command prompt, enter: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072
Restart the computer.
Will give you another gig of virtual user address space, see if that helps at all.

I see your problem. You are running the wrong OS. Windows 32bit only sees 3-3.5GB max.
To use over 4GB, you need to use 64bit OS.
Win 7 64bit can be had for $90. Depending on where you live.
All drivers you will install, will be 64Bit when you download them.
I’ve seen GW2 run upto 1.7GB of ram in the process.

Hi reboot – This looks like the Out of Memory crash faced by players with 32-bit operating systems. This is something that we are currently looking into but have no ETA for a fix at the moment. As other players have suggested, if you are able to, I would recommend upgrading to a 64-bit Operating System and adding some more RAM as well.
If this is not something that you are able to do at this time, I would recommend turning your graphics settings down completely, and if you don’t experience a crash at all, gradually raise the settings a little higher until you reach a configuration that you’re happy with that doesn’t cause you to crash.

He don’t need more than 8GB ram. All you need is a 64Bit OS.
That should fix your problems.

My mistake reboot – Kalec is right, you don’t need to add any additional RAM. Not sure how I missed the 8GB – generally players with 32-bit operating systems have less than 4GB. Since you have considerably more, I would absolutely recommend upgrading so you can put some of that RAM to use since 32-bit operating systems only use approximately 3.5 GB.

There an echo in here? Anyways try the increase address workround I posted, it works in other games, worse case scenario it doesn’t help.

There really is two options here:
- Install a 64bit version of Windows 7 so you can use the full 8GB of RAM that you have.
(32bit Windows only recognizes up to approx 3.25GB, so you have a lot of unreachable memory available)
- Increase the size of your Windows page file (Making it 4GB or so should be enough) Instructions here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ZA/windows-vista/Change-the-size-of-virtual-memory

afaik non-oem windows 7 licenses are valid for both 32 and 64bit versions, you can reinstall the 64 bit version without needing to buy another licence (you cant just update, you need to do a complete install).

Hi people,
Thanks for all the reply’s. I’m gonna try to increase the Windows page file first. If this doesn’t work I will upgrade Windows to 64 Bit. I might do the upgrade this weekend.
In the mean time: stay tuned! I will keep you people informed about the results.
Cheers!

If you don’t have 64bit windows you can follow this guide to enable the 3GB flag on windows 7 32bit: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=9583842&linkID=9240697 (you will have to copy and paste, apparently the forum redirect kills the link)
That will allow applications to use up to 3gb instead of 2gb on 32bit windows.
then use this on your gw2.exe http://ntcore.com/files/4gb_patch.zip
Which enables GW2 to use that space.
Hope that helps

Anyone try this? I get the memory crashes as well with a higher end machine. Wondering if this solved anything

About the 3gb switch. For more information please read AND understand this article http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2007/03/23/memory-management-demystifying-3gb.aspx
Also be aware of the code of conduct under point 8: You may not modify any part of the Guild Wars 2 client or server software. Also, you may not modify any part of the official Guild Wars 2 websites, other than the official Guild Wars 2 Wiki in accordance with its terms and conditions.
You will patch the client witn 4gb_patch.zip (not sure if a-net likes that one)

Hi everybody,
Ok, so far I tried to increase the Windows page file to 4GB and a few hours later to 4,5GB. I must say the crash frequency is lower than before but still remains.
So now I’m gonna re-install windows to 64Bit and see what will happen after that.
Stay tuned….

from recent forum browsing, ive noticed that the GW2 exe is already LAA patched, so you dont need the 4gb patch at all :P
You will still however require the 3gb flag for it to have any effect.

@reboot: It solved my problem, after I switched to 64bit I got rid of those errors (the only reason I stayed on 32-bit was my tv-card, it doesn’t support windows 64 bit with 4GB or more memory)
