So I looked through and found few Crash topics on here, one has the same crash I’m getting… the one where it found an error and needs to close.. I went into ArenaNet.log and all the errors were from

Assertion: A file was corrupted in the archive. Please run once with ‘-repair’!
File: ..\..\..\Game\Main\MainCli.cpp(589)

ALL The Crashes… Here’s the thing, some people said hey… Run the repair.. I can run it 5 times in a row and EACH time it’s repairing something, the same file… Then it still Crashes… So what did I finally do? reinstalled.

a Total clean reinstall/redownload of all the files, and to be safe, ran the repair right after… STILL, Crashing, still the Mainchi.cpp…

What do I do? I need help, please, someone, anyone, Devs…. help…

I tried running the game as Admin, and Not as Admin, same issue… I’m up to Date on all windows updates, I run windows 7 64 bit Pro. I have the latest drivers, and I’ve tried older drivers too, 11 of them to be exact, updated sound drivers, still, the same result. This is the ONLY game giving me issues, and boy do I have a lot of games on this system….

Memory is fine, all tests came back fine… It’s so not my memory… Trust me, I thought of that first and foremost.

Edit: Also, I have other files, other games AND other programs that use compressed Files… I’ve never had any issue with any of them, either, including Jar files which also use tight compression.

I suspect program interference causing corruption while in memory. Check your AV package by disabling it during repair and play. Also check for 3rd party “game booster” apps or motherboard “utility” apps as many of these are known to cause issues such as this (ie Precision X software = known game crasher/corrupter).

Best way to check this is with a “clean boot” procedure and repairing/ running GW2 under clean boot a couple of times.

I’ll look into it. I know My AV doesn’t often mess with anything, I have no game boosters on my machine. But thank you for the advice.

As for the Memory test? I ran the tester again tonight, 8 passes, which add to the 6 last night, all clean, 0 errors. I know my memory is strong and solid. But thanks, I’ll try the repair under cleanboot, could be the issue..

Did the Clean Boot, Ran the repair, thought it was going well…. Crashed again, same file too. I did the Clean Boot properly as well, followed all the instructions. My Memory is fine, 16 Passes over night, zero errors… No idea what to do…
