Download Failed! Please check....
Oh and while I was working on the problem today, this has been ongoing for the last 2 days, so everyone trying to download the patch at once isn’t the issue.
Bump, really need some help from Anet on this. Wouldn’t be necessary if the support ticket system was actually working.
bumpity bump bump
Same here. have not been able to play since patch last night. Download failed …and try again (2)
Same problem since the patch. Have tried disabling my firewall and running as administrator but still only downloading about 200kb and the stopping to give the error “Download failed! Please check your internet connection and try again.(2)”
EDIT: Solution found! Read my 2nd post below.
Download reaches like 99% and then gives this message “Download failed! Please check your internet connection and try again. (2)”
Me and 4 other family members are having this problem as well only since the latest patch on 16.Nov.2012, same problem here occurring on 17.Nov.2012.
It’s important to note we NEVER had this problem with any previous patch. Only this latest patch.
I think that, in my case, its something to do with my global position. I live in Bahrain. I remember reading that some people who flushed their DNS got this working.
What’s weird is that I’m having the same issue in my apartment PC, and in my parent’s home. We both have ADSL connections through the same ISP (ISP name is Batelco).
Now here’s the really really weird bit. We have 5 PCs at my parent’s home that have Guild Wars 2 and surprisingly one of them had the patch working perfectly fine.
So for now, what we did is copy the files to the other PCs and the game obviously worked. Only that I didn’t copy the game files to my apartment PC… and as of now I’m still getting this error.
I read elsewhere that a lot of problems come from AVG Antivirus being installed, I tried disabling it but it didn’t help. I’ll try to completely uninstall it and see what happens.

This is really disappointing. This would happen right around the release of new content and one time events. Starting to get bitter at the lack of ANet responses, and I really didn’t want that.
I finally noticed a pattern. Ever since the one update, it failed to finish. It always stopped and said internet disconnet on 19 files remaining. Just now I downloaded what must have been a new update (it was around 133 files). Guess what? It downloaded those new files just fine, but when it reaches those 19 mystery files it suddenly disconnected.
I’m not sure if its the same for everyone, but I just can’t seem to download these last 19 files.

same problem here and no sign of tech support on this issue…I just missed 2 days of the event…
Guys I just solved the problem !!!!
The problem in my case was 100% related to the ISP I’m using. I live in Bahrain and use an ISP called Batelco.
Here’s how it went:
1. Download patch using my home Internet connection. Failed. Using the ISP (Batelco)
2. Tried connecting to a different internet connection using my mobile phone hotspot. Failed. My mobile phone has the same ISP (Batelco) that my home internet connection uses.
3. Tried connecting to the internet using my wife’s mobile phone which uses a DIFFERENT ISP (Zain). Surprise, everything worked fine and I finally got the last file!!!!!
Now, why does the last file get stuck like that? Is something really honestly beyond me…
I’m really just happy that my speculations were correct and solved my problem
Well I didn’t exactly solve it, I just workedaround it :P
TLDR; Try connecting using your mobile phones’ hotspots and download the remaining files. It’s definitely worth a shot.
BigPotato thanks for the contribution, but I don’t have ISP issues. I live in New York and I’m still getting this problem. I just reformatted my machine and am also unable to download the client.
I live in Bahrain too…however I don’t have any other ISP other than Batelco… but glad u have your problem solved.
Tried tethering and no go, same issue.
Any Red posters up and about? We’d appreciate some feedback…
I fixed my version of this. What I did was go to Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings > Click on Properties of main connection > click on IPv4 and hit the properties button.
Once there, go to where it says DNS and change it to 8.8.8.8 and the alternate to 8.8.4.4. Hit Ok and try launching the game again. It updated straight through for me and launched the game.

Found a fix that worked for me.

Huzzah! Deleted the local.dat in My Documents finally all the files are downloaded. Thanks zERO that worked, didn’t touch my msconfig though.
All I did was uninstall AVG and everything after went as smooth as honey. I’ll take a look at Avast like I read somewhere else, and hopefully that works with everything I have.
