Guild Wars 2

So I have been playing GW2 since September on a brand new computer that I bought specifically for this game. I upgraded to Windows 8 in December and had some problems at first, but ultimately resolved them and the game actually began to run better. I ran Guild Wars 2 at the highest graphics settings as possible and the game ran amazingly.

Now, I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 preview and SOMETIMES I start the downloader and the game will download some stuff, the window will close and a new window will pop up and show “Downloading 0kb (0kb/sec)” and it won’t do anything after that. I know its not my graphics card, because as shown above, it worked flawlessly before.

Any help on this?

P.S. I also tried uninstalling the game, but when I click to uninstall it, the “Downloading 0kb (0kb/sec)” pops up every time.

Please! I just want to continue playing this game!

This started happening to me after I installed Windows 8. I tried running it in Windows 7 compatibility mode, as administrator, and still it stops.

It actually patches all but the last file, then reduces down to 0kb and stops.

For downloading stalls, try changing the language in the top right corner to French or German (NOT spanish), once the own load completes, you can change it back.

Joe, have you been able to get into the game at all since you’ve updated? Also, please post your complete system specs anyway.

Okay, well I can’t change the language to the game because it doesn’t appear in the 0kb installer and my system specs are

Intel® Core™ i7-3615QM CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.30GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB (7.79 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

I’m not exactly sure of my graphics card, I am fairly certain I just have an Intel one…nothing special.

The graphics card is very important, we need to know. You should see flags in the top right corner of the installer window, please post a screen shot of what your installer looks like.

It is important but judging from that it is a laptop CPU and Ivy Bridge, it can be assumed that it is at least a Intel HD 3000 or some discrete card, which will pass the minimum spec.

If I were him, I would be going through the port forwarding settings to his router and making sure no firewall is getting in the way. There are like 4 main ports, if you search around this sub-forum it should be pretty easy to find.

You’re most likely right Ilithis, but I hate assuming lol, it’s gotten me in trouble in the past.

As a side note, I’m noticing that the search on the forums isn’t working for me, it never turns up any results, I wonder if it’s doing this for others.

Throw us a bone here, you contribute nothing to help besides that you have the problem as well. Let us know what you have tried, if anything, and if not, instead read the thread and try the suggestions in said thread. Then, come back, let us know your findings (whether it worked or not) and maybe we’ll have some other ideas or something if that didn’t work.

I have the same problem. Yesterday I was returning to GW2 and I had the launcher problem of getting stuck at 1 file with 0 KB/sec, but we got around that with running as admin and leaving for 10 minutes

I’ve restarted my computer, the launcher and ran as admin

So, this is going to sound pretty bad, and it may not work for you, but on occassion, I’ve had this (Mac client)… My lazy solution was to keep closing and restarting the client until it worked… About 10 tries or so did it for mine.

You may want to try deleting the local.dat file located under my documents/guild wars 2. That may or maynot help either lol.

Alright, its updating at the minute. I left it on in the background for 4 hours, dunno when in that it logged in, I was playing Medieval 2: Total War :P
It was still unable to log in though, so I changed it to french and I got an update for the second day in a row.
My dad ran the test thing he found on the forums and seen that some of the pings didn’t respond, so he thinks its something to do with the network path to America since everything else seems in order

Note, I redone it in english when it broke at 4% and when when it done restarting, it was back to 100% and ready to play. Its all worked out C:
