Error Code: 42:0:9001:4137
I’ve been having the same problem. Can someone please help us?
I had the same error. I tried logging in on another computer and it worked. So it couldn’t be a problem of the gw2 servers. I turned my firewall off and anti-virus, but gw2 didn’t work either. I redownloaded the game, but it also didn’t work. So i just reinstalled my operating system, did all the updates, downloaded the game again and gw2 works. But I am sure there is another way to fix this problem. Besides, reinstalling the operating system is a good clean up for the pc.
Thanks, time to archive and re-install….not fun but if it makes GW2 work I’m in.
42:0:9001:4137 I have the sme problem and all you guys said is valid for me as well. Please can someone help us ?
Please run the game advisers (in the sticky about submitting tickets) and attach the results. Most likely ports that GW2 uses are being blocked.

game advisers is starting but in some point it says that i need internet connection and it stops
I m not sure if this tip wil help you but i helped me. I have a problem with an error that 80% of the loading screens I disconect ppl sayd port forwarding dosent help so I dident do it and trayed a diffrent fix.And for some reason when i m in a skype call it goes down to 5-10% of the loading screens. It dosent matter if you are in a groupe call or alone with one guy or even the echo sound test if no one of your budys is alone it wil work the same.
I dont know why it works for me but i realy hope it wil work for your problems as well.
POSSIBLE FIX
Still happening for me but i dont have time to redownload my operating system any fixes?
For anyone who still has a problem I think I found a fix, what you have to do is change your DNS, you can do this by going here http://use.opendns.com/ find which OS you are using and then follow the instructions.
After I completed the instructions the game loaded up fine, no idea if it was a coincidence or not but it is worth a shot.
ik keep getting this 42:0:9001:4137 error code for a few days now ervrything i do wont help anny ideas ??
Have the same problem cant log in 99/100 times, when I can log in it disconnects me when I try to select a character.
Have tried ‘-repair’, ‘-diag’ and, ‘/clientport 80’ no help. Tried as administrator, tried disabling antivirus and firewall, tried on wired and wireless (on two different routers).
Im dying hereeeeeeeeeeeeee…
Seafarer’s Rest Gold Veteran [IV]
-diag, dns, port80, repair, reset routers, alter address, double check passwords and account, firewalls turned off, virus scanned, nothing
I have the same error code for several days.
And I have tried the troubleshooting processes as below and still failed:
1. Disable security software
2. Bypass your router and try connecting directly to your modem
3. Ensure ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 are fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound.
4. DNS Flush
5. Winsock Reset
6. Msconfig
Same here ,just started the game 2 days ago ,love it and now I can’t play it . It’s been running fine till this morning and i have turned off the firewall and opened the ports.
having the same problem. its unplayable dcing all the time specially when swaping toons
same here got the problem for 2 weeks now
and it seems we wont get anny help from the (Guildwars2 Staff)
This error just appeared and there is no reason for my game not to play, since I haven’t changed anything in AGES. I’m guessing it’s time for a reinstall…
A friend of mine also has this problem, any fixes?
i have reinstalled the game 2 times that wont work
i guess the problem is not our bud with arena net
because we all got the problem out of nowhere
and annything we try wont work
It maybe an ISP issue you all need to post your ISP and see if there is some kind of similarity going on, or it might be the port of the word you live in.
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
sad to not see any answer from staff.. i been unable to play aswell.. and havent change anything in my pc..
Okay, well this thread gives me some hope that my computer isn’t on the fritz. I tried signing in about twice an hour for the past two hours and kept getting this same error code. Nothing has changed on my computer or internet either, same as above, but i checked it anyways and am getting the same message. Just curious to what’s going on, or what else there is to do. -Thanks
the same problem to me (EU), tried and check everything

I also have the same problem for 3 weeks (EU too)! Arena net please do some thing . The problem does not come from us…
I have also been having this problem for the past 2 days. I have also done everything ‘Aone’ above has done, but still coming up with the same thing :/
yeah i got the same error code just 2days ago:( did the recommended stuff reset router, set gw2 to go through firewall guess ill try reinstalling client
Has anyone been contacted by arena net yet on this issue? because i got this error on the 13/12/2013 and it was working perfectly on the 12/12/2013, and i have not seen any sign of help from arena net, nor no way in contacting them about this issue, i have tried everything on the tech support help pages and what other people have tried, but still no success, and its just with the game client itself, because i’m able to log into the guild wars 2 site and the forums or i wouldn’t be able to right this post if it was a log in issue with passwords etc. so it must be something with the log in server itself with the game client. Does anyone have an answer that works yet or knows a proper way to contact arena net?
Kinda annoying this is happening around Christmas, what a way to ruin it.
Well anyway, thanks in advance to anyone that has an answer.
Okay, I did a full reinstall but it didn’t fix things for me. I still get the same error code.
Edit: I should add I’m on EU as well. Game worked for me on the 11th of this month, didn’t play on the 12th and I got the error on my first startup of the 13th of this month (today).
Edit 2: Tried logging in on my bf’s PC that is connected to the same network as mine and I could log in, just not on my own system.

PROBLEM SOLVED! This is instruction how to fix the error:
1. Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.
2. Type “MSCONFIG” without the quotes, and click “OK.” This should open the System Configuration Utility.
3. Click on the “Services” tab and check the “Hide All Microsoft Services” check box near the bottom, then click the “Disable All” button. (You MUST click “Hide all Microsoft Services”)
4. Next go to the “Startup” tab and click the “Disable All” button.
5. Once these items are all disabled, click the “OK” button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.

I dont know. U can try but I dont have MAC and I cant check this.
This helped me just long enough to select what world I wanted to play in then it crashed…again…so I don’t know what to do now. Sorry if I am reviving an old thread, but this is the only thing I have been able to find on how to fix this that has actually worked.
(This was the first result google threw up when I searched on this code, which I resolved yesterday. Hence I am posting my solution here.)
All the above suggestions may indeed solve the issue. However, in my case, I worked out that my wireless adapter needed to be reinstalled (i.e. the driver had become corrupt). I had normal internet for almost everything, but very shortly logging into GW2, this error kept occuring.
So, if you’ve tried the above steps and found no joy, try reinstalling the driver for your network adapter (Ethernet or wireless)
Some tips, assuming Windows 7:
• Download the most recent driver from the manufacturer
• Uninstall the current driver for the adapter. This is a critical step! It can usually be uninstalled via Device Manager. If you get the choice to delete the driver, choose to do so.
• Install the driver you downloaded earlier
If you need to reboot the pc after uninstalling a driver, Windows may try and automatically reinstall it after restart (depends on various settings).
In my case, Windows 7 automatically downloaded an appropriate driver when I first installed my adapter, which worked fine for the last few months. Drivers can need to be reinstalled for a variety of reasons . In my case the driver downloaded from the manufacturer and the steps they advised to install it were more up to date than what Windows 7 found.
