Since your no moderator i would stop giving a yes or no answer. This needs to be answered by a mod,not by a player.

Having looked into the tool that allows the fov changes, I’d say YES. It’s part of a hacking tool that does some very bad things.

tool he mean isnt part of hacking/cheating program
look here… first picture is default FOV and second is more natural (1.5x) FOV as you can see camera is more zoomed to character and you can still see part of sky
or look on trees in middle or bonfire…
yes most probably….

Why do you need a mod to state what they’ve already stated? Any program that modifies the game files or game functions that gives an unfair advantage to a player is considered a bannable mod. Just look at the pics posted above me. Clearly the player using the FOV can SEE more than the default UI thus giving them an unfair advantage in PvP

so if person has 3 monitors and game set his FOV to 180° he gona get ban too? because its unfair advantage?

Does GW2 do that?
yes even if you set your resolution to 1920×800 you got FOV over 100°
@Pluton I didn’t think about Eyefinity because I’ve never been rich enough to have more than one monitor :P I know the game is coded to work with Eyefinity to a degree and they say they are working on fixing the bugs with it and Nvidia Surround. But I’d think this works a bit differently. Maybe it works the same since I didn’t think about those.
However the one thing I see that still says to me it would be a “cheat” is if I and someone else are both running 22" monitors at say 1680×1050 and running just one monitor he’d have an unfair advantage over me if he can see more because he’s using a “hack” program to alter the games display. The point I’m making is they tell you don’t use macros to do multiple button presses, don’t alter the game so it seems pretty clear they don’t want you messing with things they don’t provide.

and if you both have 22" with native 1680×1050 and the other guy set resolution on his monitor to 1680×780 he gona see more then you… so you want ban him?
@Pluton You’re comparing apples to oranges. In one case you are not changing the game files at all just the resolution on the monitor. In the other you are changing the game files to change FOV.
An answer from a dev to this would be awesome. The FOV is honestly why I have stopped playing currently. It ruins this beautiful game. you miss out on so much.
LOL hmm not being home I wasn’t testing the resolutions but I certainly didn’t expect that lol
I’d love an answer on this too!
The moderators have already responded to this particular FOV tool:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Tool-which-lets-user-adjust-FOV/first#post259376
It can get you banned. Do not use it.
That being said, the community interest in FOV adjustments has no doubt gotten their attention. I’m sure we can expect to see this included officially in some future patch.
I’d also recommend using the forums search tools, the dev tracker, or just reading through a few threads before posting new topics. ^^
As Lordseffy.8371 said, the issue has already been asnwered.
Here’s the thing though: if you need to ask if it can get you banned, it can get you banned. Use common sense.
And before you want to throw ridiculous hypotheticals around: pretty much any case of using a third party tool to modify how the game runs, is rendered or that will affect core game files can get you banned.
Using those types of tools comes at a risk. This risk also means you lose your right to complain if you do get banned after using them.
no tool=headache=cant play
using tool=can play // maybe ban
i gues second option is better… they have nothing to lose

yeah this sucks
fix this please

Hi everyone.
Thanks for your concerns. As our colleague Gaile Gray has indicated here, Arena Net´s policy concerning this kind of use of Third-Party programs will arrive soon.
But for the moment, keep in mind that the tool you are talking about is not allowed.
We proceed to close the thread.
