Anyone else is having FPS issues after the 28/01 patch?
I always played at 40-50 fps in PvE and even large battles in WvW wasn’t so bad but after the patch I’m getting 24-30 maximum in PvE (40-50 only when looking at a wall).
And no, I didn’t change or install anything, just the new patch.

Same thing here, had around 50-60 fps in LA (as late as yesterday before patch), now 15-20. Nothing was changed in graphic options nor anything installed. Game is unplayable atm.

Welcome to my world. My fps has been low since one of the October patches., corrected itself a patch later, and then went back to the kittenter the patch after. By kittenty fps I mean less than 30 FPS, everywhere with a few exceptions. Even occurs on low settings.

System specs→
Windows 7 64 bit
Intel® Core™ i7 CPU K 875 @ 2.93GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.9GHz
16 GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series. Believe it’s a 6870. Drivers fully updated.
Have already tried wiping the video card drivers and re-installing them. Didn’t do anything. Have tried practically every fix found on the forums.
Nothing is overheating. Have a coolmaster for my CPU and GPU hits about 60 degrees celcius tops.

I know, It is starting to get annoying. I was planning on doing some dungeon runs and/or WvWvW after I am done with the story, but until my FPS is fixed, I don’t see that happening.

I’ve also had drastic FPS drops since the patch. In Orr earlier tonight I was averaging 15-25 fps where normally I’d be around the 45-60 range.

Even worse when I tried to go into WvW. While WvW could always naturally get a little laggy in huge battles for me (In the 15-20fps range at the lowest), tonight it was nearly unplayable dropping down almost to 5 fps with a medium sized tower defense. I’m seeing the lowest FPS I’ve ever had playing the game going all the way back to beta.

SOLVED (at least for me).
I had the AMD Catalyst 13.1 before/after the patch and as I said, the game run just fine until the patch came out so what I made was make a clean install of windows but this time I installed the 12.11 beta driver again and problem solved, the game run as smooth as before.
So the last driver for AMD was the problem. I don’t know if Anet did something to screw things with this version but well, the 12.11 beta work just fine.

I’m having FPS issues as well. up until patch, i was getting 50-60 fps, now i’m down to 15. please fix this, because as it is, gw2 is unplayable.

I have a GeForce GTX 550 TI gfx card.

Seriously, you guys need to fix this. You are going to loose players. Myself included. Even WoW won’t update their gfx, at risk of loosing players. If i have to log SWTOR to get my mmo fix, i’m going to be angry. I’ll uninstall so fast, it will make Age of Conan look good… You’ve got about 24 hours…

Adding my +1 to this thread – yesterday I was on a solid 45-50 FPS and now since the 28th January patch can’t get higher than 15 FPS and my Guild Wars 2 process is chewing through memory like no one’s business.

I’m playing off a laptop with an Nvidia quadro GPU, 32GB of RAM and an overclocked 3.2GHz CPU so there is no reason for this sudden performance drop; it has to be patch related.

I’ve had the same problem since Wintersday. Certain events make me go to about 2-5 FPS and I have to restart my comp to fix it. Now I can’t do Maw, temple events, even the champ abomination. Before Wintersday I would drop to like 10-15 but it would go right back up again after the event had ended.

Ended up mostly fixing my problem by deleting the local.dat file in the Guild Wars 2 – My Documents folder and letting it recreate itself… Thanks to the suggestion of someone in another thread. FPS still seem to be slightly lower, but nothing as bad as it was.

Deleting the local dat file did improve performance but not to my pre-28th patch status. After some time playing it drops again, though.

I tried rolling back my nvidia drivers but the issue persists.

I thought the goal was to clean up the code and make the game take better advantage of Multi Core Processors, so more people can enjoy the game.

could be somebody in management decided that the game runs well enough, and it would be best to just expect players to buy top end intel cpu’s and overclock them, as they wait for cpu makers to fix the problem for them….

that or, they need to hire a team to re-write the core for muti core cpu’s from the ground up, but if they do that, it will take months…..so….no matter what they do, your just gonna have to accept that the min specs they posted really just mean you can load the game up, not that you can actually play, and that even a top end cpu/gpu wont get you a stable 60fps game wide…

I could understand people with Min specs having FPS issues. The issue is that even people with Intel Quad core processors aren’t getting the performance they should because the game can’t take full advantage of Multi-core processors.

Maybe they actually want people to spend their money on upgrading their computer to the fastest Intel processor available and over clock it to death instead of spending their money in the game store.

As long as Multi-core processors have been out. It is a epic failure on their part to have majority of the code run on one core

This game has odd problems with graphical settings. I would suggest changing your graphics settings around. Set them all to low first then one by one increase them and note the FPS drop for each one. Set sampling data to ultra then native.

im starting to think they build this game with their minds in the early/mid 2000’s rather then in the present….

dosnt make proper use of multi core/thread cpu’s
dx9……
….

really starting to think that somebody at anet needs a good falcon punch to the testes so hard it pushes them from the past where they seem to be stuck to the present where dx11 and even 10 hardware makes up a the majority of the market, and where more and more people have systems with 4+thread support.

4.7 “other” this probably includes tricores and hex and octa(3-6-8 cores), but i have a feeling steam may be counting intel chips with HT as if they dont have HT….
so it should be optimized for at least quads….

Yup. You’re right. If you take a look at the performance mon, you can clearly see the game not multithreading properly. It runs a few threads, which don’t even generate proper load on the system. My guess: the graphics engine runs a bit too synchronously / tightly coupled and lags every time one of the threads takes too long to fetch objects or whatsnot…

It’s funny how in their job ads Anet brags about high coding standards and stuff and then goes ahead and seems to hire people who don’t get software architecture.

well the games got alot of threads, but if you read the info the dev’s have put out here (check the faq) and on reddit, its got 3 critical threads, if any one bogs down even for an instant, the whole game suffers…(slide show!!!!)
