Hello everyone,
This is my PC spec:
Core i5 3570
8 GB DDR3 Corsair Vengence 1600Mhz
Asrock z77 pro-m gen3
GTX Titan (Last driver)
My FPS is 20 ~ 30 and sometimes when im playing it drops to 15 (normal maps), causing some kind of “lag” spike, its impossible to play like this, anyone have an idea of what should i do?

Download CPU-Z Install and run, then click on the Mainboard tab and let me know what your Graphic Interface section says for Link Width and Max. Supported.
Maybe you have that issue or something where the CPU activity drops and the GPU activity skyrockets

that’s what i’m thinking, But I’m also thinking that his PCI-E link speed isnt 16×.

Once i get home i will provide the info (sorry for my bad english)

here is the Link Width and Max. Supported.
There’s your problem, you’re running at 1x lol.
Go into your bios and find the PCIe setting and change it to 16x
you should see a huge improvement in every game now lol

Make sure your Video card is in a 8x or 16x PCI-E slot. I have seen some guys force the 1x slot (break the back of the slot off so a 4x,8x,16x card will fit).
The other thing is to make sure you are using your PCI-E 16x Lanes correctly. There are some older MB’s that will down rate the GPU Slot if other PCI-E slots are populated. Though, the lowest ive seen them get down laned to is 4x (6 PCI-E slots, 4 Slots on the CPU, 16x being the max supported….ect).
So you gotta be aware of this when you install other PCI-E cards in your system to make sure they are not sharing the Lanes of your GPU.

That motherboard has what looks like 3 PCIe x16 slots. They are not. Only the one closest to the CPU is a true x16 slot. The remaining two are an x1 and an x4. Why they bothered to dress an x1 slot up as an x16 is beyond me.

Yeah, i have my card on the PCI 3rd Gen Slot, (the one closest to the CPU), and still don’t know why its only running at 1x, i tryed to see in BIOS, but i have no clue where to go.

selling point.
Its just like the Board I just got. 3 PCI-E Slots, but only 16x Lanes total (so either x16 x0 x0, or X8 X8 x0 or X8 X4 X4) its stupid.

Do you have any of the other PCI-E Slots populated?

Try re-seating the card. Sometimes the connectors build up a bit of “tarnish” even when the motherboard is boxed up sitting in a warehouse.
Re-seating the card (make sure you have it ALL the way down) kinda’ scrapes the connections and should provide better contact. I usually do this a couple of times when installing cards (even RAM) just to make sure I get solid connections.

No i don’t, do you guys think that this can be a BIOS problem?

yea, it will be. You’ll want to look at your north bridge settings and look at the PCI-E options. They ‘should’ All be auto. You can manually set link speeds in MOST BIOS’s/EFI settings. (Auto, 16x, 8x, 4x, 1×...ect.)
I would just reset the BIOS to defaults, make sure your Boot Device is setup correctly (RAID, ACHI, or IDE/Compatible mode) then make sure you boot to your HDD first. and go from there.

Actually that configuration makes a lot more sense. Heck if they simply swapped the order of the x1 and x4 on the ASRock that at least makes a so-so CrossfireX arrangement, x16 x4, than x16 x1.

yea, But when I had all my PCI-E Slots populated (HD7790 in slot 1, at 8x, Quad Intel GB 8x in slot 2, and my 10GB Dual Intel in slot 3 at 4x) My performance was terrible. As long as my GPU was running at 8x, my max FPS was 18-24. As soon as i pulled the other cards out and my GPU was at 16x, 60FPS high settings in LA on a busy night.
I know the Difference of 16x vs 8x should be minimal, but it wasn’t for me. My Old board had 4 16x Slots (1 and 3 where tied to the CPU, and 2 and 4 were tied to…cant remember) and 1 4x and 2 1x’s. But that was AMD on a AM3 MB.
Going from that to Intel was Night/day, and not looking back :-)

For those talking about PCI-E limits. If u want more X16 lanes, get a LGA 2011 rig.
They can run at:
x16
x16 x16
x16 x8 x8
x8 x8 x8 x8
Compared to a LGA 1155/50
x16
x8 x8
x8 x4 x4
x4 x4 x4 x4
That is, unless the motherboard has a PLX chip, and they arguable are only any good for quad SLI as they add latency and can in some casses negate the extra bandwidth performance they give. I.E x8 x8 same perfomance as x16 x 16 with PLX.
