I have an a8-3870K, ATI 7950 w/ 8 gigs of ram. Game runs like absolute garbage and its really annoying. barely get 26 fps in lions arch or wvw thus making the game not fun to play. Ive tried unparking the cores which had no effect and did the whole settings list and turned v sync on thing to but it made no difference.

Why would the game select everything on high for auto detection yet can barely run it on low settings.

The performance of the game is terrible even with high end hardware. Your ONLY recourse is to overclock your CPU, yes, overclock a modern CPU to play the game at acceptable framerates.
There will never be optimization for this game so you don’t have a choice but to potentially damage your hardware if you don’t know what your doing.

What cooler does your CPU have? Have you overclocked a CPU before?

Since the previous patch my FPS in LA went down to 11-13 (with max culling). Before the patch my FPS was about 31-35 in a crowded LA. Weird thing is that in low populated areas my FPS has increases (or at least the loading of textures at the start of a map). Sounds kinda weird that even culled stuff is having a massive performance impact suddenly. Wasn’t it supposed to increase the performance? I’m lost.. please fix this!

Its watercooled, even with everything on low with the new patch I barely hit 26fps. Ive never overclocked before.

Since August 27 patch , my FPS went down like a stone too. Before I was having around 40-50 in LA now barely reaching 20-25.

I was in lions arch too.

All are getting 18 FPS on maximum settings. On the lowest details with 1920×1080 → only 23 Fps.

16 GiByte DDR3-1600 RAM

Samsung 830 256 GByte

Well this is a sure indication that you’re CPU bound right now. We’ve been saying for months now, lots of players in one place equals low frame rate. Stand on some desolate hill top somewhere and I bet your frame rate will be much better.
