Hey guys,

Look, i play from Australia.. i don’t expect that much, but i’ve played other games with American hosted servers and it’s normally around 180-200.
The ping on this game is terrible for me, unplayable at a semi competitive level realistically..
I’ve had other players from Australia say that the game is perfectly playable for them, i can’t help but think they’re utterly delusional and don’t even notice it. I have a fiber cable connection which is perfectly fine for any other game i’ve tried to play, not sure why it’s so terrible for GW2.

I’ve attached a screenshot showing my latency on GW2 (run>resmon) which shows
an average of 450 on two instances and one that ranges from 250-400 which i’m guessing is the actual games latency, whereas on World of Warcraft i get a solid steady 180-200.

I don’t mean to complain but it’s seriously terrible, i like this game so much but it’s literally shocking with latency like this..

Just to let you know, I’m getting comparable latency. I’ve actually made a post regarding this, and I’m awaiting feedback. I’m nowhere near as far away from Anet as yourself, so I think there’s something pretty bad going on their end. There’s a lot of shocking things going on. I’m getting about 20ms latency less than you, setting me at about 380ms ping.

This pretty much confirms it’s not a user issue, and I hope they get it fixed soon as it’s really starting to get under my skin. It’s been going on and off for a while now, at least for me.

For curiousity’s sake, make a char on a European server and see what Resmon says to that.

Also, what is your downstream and upstream?

You guys aren’t alone, I too have been experiencing odd latency related issues when I have never had to deal with them previously. For me it’s on and off as well but it usually begins at around 11 PM server time and usually lasts for 2-3 hours. I’m playing from New Zealand on Isle of Janthir.

@sobe how do you create a character on a EU server? i can’t seem to do so without deleting all my NA chars but according to speedtest.net- ping 8ms|dl 30.15mbps|upload 1.14mbps

Never mind on the EU server then, I assumed they would allow it, but I suppose not. The EU game server is located in Frankfurt, Germany which is why I was curious.
