Flashing Textures?
I just updated my nVidia drivers to the beta ones and have lashing textures in Gendarran fields under the squat little hut things. I had not been experiencing his beforehand. Did you fix it at all?
same thing happening in Hoelbrak

video’s i’ve seen would suggest the second picture is how it should be
throughout the game, i’ve also seen it on barrels, chests, rocks, the odd animated door……
i have installed 310.90 WHQL Driver few days ago and I don’t remember that it’s happening with the older version of nvidia drivers :/

yeah look at this!!
Think 310.70 is still good.
Last beta (and now it is WHQL version) = Lots of flashing textures. Bridges in fractals etc etc etc
i have unninstall 310.90 and install 310.70 and it’s still broken
so there are some solutions:
set vertical sync off
or
set framer limiter on 30FPS
or
set game resolution on windowed fullscreen – best solution for me, alt-tabing between game and windows is much faster but graphic card is still working so i recommend show up the map if you go AFK, or logout
I rolled back without luck, even to 310.64. Wondering if it isn’t the drivers now … lol.
Last time I rolled back it was fine, but there have been game patches since. Still getting flashing / odd highlighted textures. Even some very weird footprint last night during fractals.
After updating to the latest nvidia driver (release, not beta), flashing of some objects’ textures, from normal to mostly white, have indeed started to happen.
Though to be fair, before updating my graphic card’s driver, I’ve only played a couple of times – took some time off the game since right after the Halloween event. Also, the rather old driver I was using before the update was the 307-something.
Just for clarity’s sake, I run the game with everything maxed out. Also, tweaking the Render Sampling option, from Supersample to Default/Subsample, seems to have fixed this issue for me.

well i’ll be kitten nice “fix” Melanis, windowed full screen definitely fixes it.
This is a well known bug of Nvidia Drivers 310.xx branch
Many posts here (maybe Admins should merge and pin them)
Only true fix is to revert to older drivers (like 306.97 whql)
If you really need 310.xx for some other games, you can lower down the shader slide to mediuml or low. Flashing textures will be 80% gone

Nope, not in my tests
only 2 things removed the flashing, Fullscreen Window, and 30fps frame cap.
And I don’t see any confirmation its specifically a driver 310 issue, many forums assume as such, but fail to note that a major gw2 patch landed around the same time.
You need to note though, a window can’t be vsync’d. No matter if it’s pretending to be full-screen or not.

Not correct, most console emulators support windowed vsync, and so do alot of games. Flash also, is typically run in a full screen window and also supports vsync.
There are a few cases where fullscreen windows will not permit vsync easily (Mixing GDI elements with Accelerated back buffers being one of them) but it can be done; its just a pain in the kitten to do it.
NT6’s compositor makes it a bit easier by utilising dwm to generate a full screen window, and vertical sync is usually not required there.
GW2 does support Vsync in windowed fullscreen, though the simple screenshots i have taken will not prove this, since they cannot demonstrate in action frame changes that well.

Flashing textures appeared with 310.33 drivers, released late October
Every new driver of 310 branch cause same flashing textures issue.
Reverting to previous drivers (306.xx) fix this.
Looks like a guilty driver
(but of course, not excluding other possibilities)
I had a 550ti under 306.97, that did not experience the issue, and i went straight to 310.33 (skipping the .6x driver), so i assumed a gfx card or setting issue.
To be honest, not very many places actually have the issue for me to have noticed it being the driver at fault. Has nvidia been made aware?
I have the same problem with the last 3 driver updates. Glad I found this thread and I’m not alone. Any info on a fix from Nvidia/Anet or if either party is at least aware?

I never have compositing enabled.
Well, thats your problem then. turning compositor off disables a bunch of hardware acceleration and vsync features.
I tried the Windowed Fullscreen mode and it did not fix the problem.
This problem showed up sometime after the second to last Nvidia driver patch. Although, in that time there were several game patches as well. Probably a lot more then several.
For me usually happens on roots. For example, the large root structures near the Arah dungeon that hold up the Pact defense wall. They’re bleach white or flash to white when I look directly at or pan my camera.
There are one or two places where this happens to me as well. One town and a bridge.
Annoying, but I just ignore it. (adventured my way out of those areas fairly quickly)
Nvidia – latest drivers.
I cut my gaming teeth on Adventure&ZorkI,II,III.

Odd, are you on a 120hz display at all?
I was experiencing various flashing textures with nvidia 310.90. Rolled back to 306.97 and the problem seems to be gone.
No, it’s a 60hz LCD 2ms AOC monitor. Its about 5 years old.

If you got it in the USA, it likely is 59.9 Hz. AOC isn’t as good as you may think either. But flashing textures usually is the GPU’s fault. Since the rest of the screen doesn’t flash.
can’t blame the tv timing issue here, my display reports 59.97 as well and the flashing is resolved with the windowed fullscreen trick.
asus gtx470 x2 sli
i down graded the drivers to 306.xx and it fixed the issue
but i forgot to turn on sli after driver change, when i did the flickering was worst
so i turned off the computer and cleaned the sli bridge and connection points on both cards and it fixed the issue completly i then upgraded to nvida drivers 320.00 beta 100% flicker free now
