So I have had this issue for a while, it happens every so often. I play in T1 of North America and when there are certain clashes of zergs GW2 crashes. This isn’t a connection error to the best of my knowledge, but I do frequently crash and get the “Do you wish to send Arenanet a log” and then it exits the game.
This only happens in large engagements. How can I fix this or find out what is going on?

This happened again and I got this message in the details:
What does this mean?
can you give us your system spec

try to run repair and also see if all of your devices are up to date

All the devices are up to date. I do this once a month. This has been happening for the last few months, I just never bothered to post as it seems to be an occasional occurrence.
And by repair I assume you are talking about the game?
yes try to run game repair , right click on shortcut , properties and add -repair like so :
“…\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
then save (apply – ok) and try to run it , it should begin to detect your problems

Did that thanks! Didn’t know how to run that repair. It did’t seem to find anything (or at least nothing was reported as needing to be fixed).
How do I know if that fixed it?
This only happens in large engagements.
If it only happens to wvwvw in large engagements, its most likely your wvwvw quality/players settings..Turn them to low or lowest, that should fix it.

Let me start off saying that the system listed should not encounter a problem with that. It’s a very good system. And it’s happened in PvE once or twice too in the large PvE events where there are tons of players all attacking something.
Secondly, I’ve tried that. It happens anyway. The error message seems to me like a memory leakage from the game trying to allocate more memory than there is.
I’ve once thought that it only affected EB, but it turns out this has affected all BL in WvW. I’ve noticed considerably more lag during medium to large engagements. Where as a week or so ago my game could run around 30 FPS in large fights and around 65FPS in roaming. It has devolved into 15-17 FPS in large fights and player on screen will occasionally begin running in place before disconnecting me. I have friends with self-built PC’s costing thousands of dollars being disconnected from EB after being in it for 5 seconds, when previously we would be on EB for HOURS with no disconnections. The last 3 mini patches have really screwed the pooch.
well i dont think your pc should have problems with large engagements especially because you have your game on ssd , and fairly high end pc that can run any latest game no problem , maybe it really is the problem with patches , hope someone from arenanet respond to you soon as i do not see any other help i can provide :/
best of luck.
I hope so because I’m normally running like 50FPS in LA, 70-80FPS in WvW (doesnt matter where) and during large engagements I drop to 30-40FPS.
It seems like a memory leakage of some sort. I mean even the error file is talking about out of memory and allocation of a large number of bytes that seems to be misplaced.
Same thing happening for me, atleast FPS seems to be a little better lately don’t know if they did any updates to help that but this crashing thing is a little annoying.
Your problem is right here:
CPU – Intel I2500k @ 4.7GHz
Turn your overclock way down (or off for testing) and I’ll bet the crashes stop.
You may also need to loosen your memory timings. I highly doubt that your RAM is completely stable running at 7-8-7-24. Those are pretty tight timings for DDR3.
The RAM shown below specifies 9-9-9-24 timings:

That’s not the RAM I’m using. The specification for the RAM I’ve got is 7-8-7-24.

And that overclock is very stable. I’ve been at around 5GHz for the last year or so and since this crashing began a few months ago I lowered it to 4.7GHz. I’ve run multiple tests for instability and haven’t found any. I’ll lower it more I guess to a 4.5GHz but I don’t see why only this game should have an issue with the overclock when every other game I have doesn’t.
I’ve tried turning it off for testing and letting it run, but the crash still happened. It’s also so infrequent for it to happen that it is relatively rare.
Just to make sure that we’re clear, it’s not that my computer is crashing, it’s only GW2. The program itself is what is crashing to desktop with a little window asking if I want to send an error report. The computer itself runs fine afterwards. I can just re-load the game and continue playing.
It’s just frustrating especially on reset nights or prime time since I get locked out of the BL I was in. Not to mention the frustration of a game crashing.
Maybe your overclock isn’t as stable as you think. Just because it’s only GW2 doesn’t mean anything.
Sorry, I have no other suggestions that could help. Good luck.
just for laughs – try running gw2 in xp compatibility mode.

No that’s quite alright, thanks for trying though I do appreciate it. I know it’s pretty stable as I ran LinX and Prime95 recently and both passed without a problem. I test the OC every so often to make sure that I don’t have any degradation in the chip and if I need to lower the OC.
Ill try running it in Win XP compatability mode. Might help lol.
