GPU Artifacting (GTX690)
they said they are gathering data on this issue and are working on it
Have you ran Furmark to test if it’s actually a faulty GPU? Artifacting like can only mean 2 things. Faulty gpu, or on occasions, drivers.
GTX 6GB Titan@1160Mhz
3007WFP@2560x16000
Those look like overclocking artifacts. Is your GTX690 o/c in some way, even “factory” overclocked? GPU or GDDR clock?
It seems to me that your hardware might really be the problem. Don’t have too high hopes of a patch that’ll fix them. I’ve had my share of faulty computers, and from what I’ve experienced your problem might be:
- Heat. Check how hot your system is while under load.
- A PSU that can’t handle the load. Make sure your PSU is rated at least 80 PLUS. Even though those might seem expensive to you, remember that the PSU has do power all of the components in your system, and if the PSU isn’t good enough, you’ll have problems.
- Motherboard/graphics card incompatibility. Yeah, there are combinations of those that just don’t work together.
- Overclocking. If you’re running overclocked go back do default settings.
- Drivers. If you’re not using the latest drivers, get them.
OP, is your Ambient Occlusion on by any chance ?
I am running a GTX690 with the latest 306.23 drivers and before that i ran 304.48 and i have no problems with Artifacts anywhere.
Only thing i could think of is your Temps are to high, you running evga precission or msi afterburner ?
I’ve had my daughter this weekend (being Dad > being professional nerd)
Lets see here.
Ambient Occlusion is off.
The artifacts happen only with GW2 and no other game.
I’ve tried turning Vsync off and on (both the graphics and game settings)
I’ve tried not using the SLI portion of the card and using only 1 monitor. (no dice)
The processor is the only thing OC’d on this rig currently.
It artifacts even when I’ve just started the rig up (so I don’t see heat being an issue and I have a total of 10 fans on this rig, including a Nocta…..)
I know I’m not the only one out there and I’m still trying to get them to go away.
When do I get them the most?
In WvW where I’m attacking the garrison from the NE area and there is snowy grass. Grassy objects in general seem to make my world unhappy.
It’s almost like just a certain texture (grass mainly… or environmental objects of the same family) are having an issue.
I’m just happy to know I’m not the only one… and I’ve been dealing with is since they ‘optimized’ the game client from BWE2-BWE3 and I can only hope for a fix in the works soon!
Edit: I’ve clean installed the game 3 times already and I have rolled back the drivers back to the flintstone ages (301.xx) with no luck.

Check your utilization and temps on that card. Entirely possible that a driver and software conflict is causing a very specific problem that overheats your card. It has happened before.
This looks like a game issue as it seems everyone else is having FPS issues, crashes, or the like with GPU’s. I’m glad I can play and I have high quality/frames while I play… but constantly being at warp speed around grass gets annoying :P
You said you overclocked the CPU. Did you change the bus speed or only the multiplier? If you change the bus speed you also overclock everything on the system bus. These look like artifacts from overclocking the videocard.
You might check your bios and give everything a good once over to make sure you didn’t accidentally change the wrong thing. Artifacts don’t have to show up in every game for it to be a bad overclock.
A lot of the people with these artifacts are also the same ones that have overclocked their I5 and I7s to well beyond intended speeds.

Ahahahahahaha….
So I loaded up my 560TI on my crappy media computer and guess what?
No artifacting. No lag.
So this game is optimized for low end GPU’s?
-Le sigh-
All I can hope is that Anet’s super smart hardware/software coding ninjas fix whatever they did when they ‘optimized’ the game client and it went from being on just the CPU and being shared with the GPU and a total kittenshow (Yeah I wrote out kitten. What up.)
