Hi, i am having some performance issues in gw2 with my gtx 660 ti, i have a 3570k, 8 gb of ram and i have the latest drivers for the gpu.

Jus walking arround on lion’s arch i am getting about 50 fps average on the best performance settings. when i suddenly turn arround it drops to 30 and when i am moving arround slowly i am getting betwen 50-60.
Shouldn’t i be getting better performance from this card?

If someone has about the same setup, i would love some help with the settings.
Thanks
Rafa_M

In a word? No. Seems like everybody gets that sort of performance (and worse) around the “Winters Day Event” in LA.

The event won’t last for ever and its not like you actually NEED (no fighting) the FPS.

Seems about right for LA, that city is just load with stuff and strains the CPU alot.
I got 3570K with GTX 660 (non-ti). Best appearance and getting 40-60fps.

No that fps is perfectly fine.
Check ur CPU and GPU usuage ..if ur GPU is not maxing out then its simply down to GW2’s single thread performance.
Even the latest Intel CPU’s OC’d to 4.5ghz will bottleneck on single thread workloads (not per core) so even when the CPU indicated say 50% usuage .it will likely be running those single GW2 threads as fast as it can and thus u will notice a drop in FPS becouse the GPU is waiting on the CPU.

Hope this explains it. There is more to it but takes a while to type out all the info lol.

lol i think you did a pretty good job summarizing it haha. I couldnt have done it.

Im using an older GeForce 8600 GT. I bought the GTX 650 ti, but think my M/B is too old for it.. so I see the 50 fps too, but have little to no frame lag and only very rare and slight server lag (running dual core AMDs though)

Might want to try this thread —--> https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/FPS-and-Performance-based-issues-1

Some pretty good suggestions. hope it helps

Hey,

I have a very similar set up:

i5 3570k (OC’ed mine to 4.4GHz)
MSI GTX 660Ti OC PE
16Gb 2100Mhz
Game is on the SDD along with my OS

Everywhere in the game I am running stable 60fps while turning the camera around like crazy, but in LA it goes down to 45 – 55 fps, with spikes down to 35fps on a fast camera movements.

GPU is running at around 90% load with Vsync enabled on high settings.
CPU is running at 40%.
I read somewhere that turning off ambient occlusion may speed things up a lot for our generation GPU’s, but did not have chance to test it yet. Will get home and report back.

Hopefully there is a solution to even out the FPS spikes in LA.

By the way I have already enabled the following settings through Nvida Inspector.

“Power Management mode” to “Prefer maximum performance.”
“Multi-display/mixed GPU acceleration” to “Single display performance mode.”
“Vertical Sync” to “Use the 3D application settings.”

I was having the same problem. I have the exact same specs, and i was getting 30-36 FPS with spikes to 20 even outside of LA. A small overclock should do the trick.

As CPTbadger said, its due to the programming.

At first, i too thought this issue came with the grafix. Weirdly enough, this game is straining your CPU too much. For a 3570k, you are going to get some bottlenecks with a 660TI processing-wise, and i know this by experience as i have the same specs.

A 660ti is MORE than enough to run gw2 at max. Thats why people with 480s can run it at max because they have i7 processors.

An OC to about 4.2 GhZ made it run perfectly at 60FPS even at LA in sea of sorrows.

So yeah. Its not ur grafix card. Given a good processor, a 660ti will tear it to shreds.

EDIT: I’m actually using a gb mobo that overclocks for you. When i OC to 4.2, i’m actually getting about 4.5-4.7. Whereas if i use stock specs, i would get ~4.0GhZ. OC yours to about 4.5. Its easily doable unless you got unlucky and have a crappy chip.
