GTX 670 fps drop when turning
Its normal, at least for GW2. I have a 3570k and 670 and it happens to me also. But for me, it happens only when I first load the game.

yeah when i first load it always happens, which is probably normal. may i ask what settings you are running in game? i have been messing around with different things, and specifically the shaders and reflections seam to be causing a majority of this slowdown when turning
I have the shaders cranked and shadows cranked and I noticed that the big big rendering issue is the reflections.
Toss the reflections down from all and it helps bigtime.

its the culling system, GW2 uses umbra, they orignally planned this to be run on gpu, BUT umbra dosnt work as intended with any gpu currently, umbra blame gfx chip makers (intel/amd/nvidia) saying they need to fix their drivers….funny…..if it effects everybody….perhaps they should fix it on their end….
you can try http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments#-umbra_gpu
but yes its normal, if you jump around alot and can get to places on the map they didnt intend us to get to, you can find textures that are just visual not physical, when you walk past them, you will see how much stuff should be culled but isnt, its amazing, the maps are at least 6-8x more complex then they need to be, all thats being rendered then culled, rather then culled so it wont be rendered(or thats what it seems like with the way the game performs)
its also why in WvWvW people disappear visually but can still attack you…..
the games just really unoptimized/deoptimized…..(cant call it optimized…not with the way it runs.
if you want better gw2 perf, get phase change, clock your system to 6+ghz, that should help some…..since the games apparently optimized for 6-8ghz tricore cpu’s….

Umbra 3.2 is out so hopefully that will somehow be implemented into the client
Any hope is good hope

I just cranked everything on high lol
I was just wondering if this is normal and happens to most people, or if it is a problem with my system. I have pretty good performance in PVE zones, but a lot of times when I turn the camera quickly, my fps takes a huge drop, causing some noticible stuttering, as its dipping below 30 fps.
Here is my system specs:
i7 930 at 4.0 ghz
GTX 670
12gb 1600 ram
Crucial m4 256gb ssdAre the fps drops while turning just something that needs to be optimized in the game, or is it something with my system? Thanks in advance for any help or tips.
you can try setting the game to pre-render 4 scenes on the cpu instead of the default this helps me also let your game sit a min and get up to the clock speed needed this helps me to wait 20secs or so when i first load into the world
