The game client has become unreliable. The client is crashing all the time now, since the last patch. One specific client crash occurs when going from the overflow in LA to the regular server, three times in a row, when I clicked to enter my regular server, the client would crash. Suggestions or ideas to remedy this condition would be welcome. Thanks.

I’d like to note this as well. The client has crashed 3 times for me in the last 24 hours. Once when I was trying to map travel and two other times while in Cursed Shore.

We have 3 computers for the family to play, and while the 64-bit system rarely crashes (maybe once a week) the two 32-bit systems are crashing multiple times per day. Typically when traveling into a city, but sometimes in the middle of a big event.

I turned camera shake off on one of the computers, and that computer’s client hasn’t crashed in the last two days, while the one with camera shake on continues to crash.

Anyone else want to check if turning camera shake off really makes a difference?

I hate to say this but don’t listen to ANYTHING ANet’s “technical support” tells you about this issue. I have a similar issue w/ my system and I’m using 64 bit Vista. It’s entirely on THEIR end; they simply don’t want to admit it to anyone, which is entirely shady.

I once documented all of my crashings in a one week span (Around 30 crashes), I compiled all of my data and sent it to the NCSoft support team. They turned around and gave me the same B.S. answer that “Ashley Segovia” gave you just now.

Over the course of little more than 5 days, I ran EVERYTHING that this “specialized team” proposed. Everything I did turned out just fine; they even admitted it. So what it comes down to is that ONE of these companies (NCSoft or ArenaNet) is pumping out very crappy code without quality checking their work.

In short; you can run all the .exe’s you want; it won’t help a thing, unless they actually fix their botched programming.

This is just painful…I’ve tried multiple ‘fixes’ that I’ve seen around on these forums. Then, I got excited once I noticed today’s maintenance patch….but low and behold, the client can’t connect, and continues to time out. Like now, the client reads ‘Downloading 156kb (0kb/sec)’

edit My ‘repair’ client is also stuck with a similar ‘Downloading 290kb (0kb/sec)’ message.

I think tomorrow, I’ll try to completely uninstall, then re-install to see if I can finally shake this bug. Unless, one of you guys have already tried the re-install trick?!

Update: 02.23.2013 I just reset the internet modem by pressing in the little tiny ‘reset’ button. Simply unplugging the modem didn’t help, but pressing that little button did the trick!

I’ve tried a fresh install; still does it. Again; it’s a programming issue, nothing to do w/ your system.

3x tonight it has crashed in la for me within 5 mins.
I was lvling up my jewellery but i doubt it’s out to do with that.

Now this is the first time(besides the beta events) gw 2 has crashed for me,so it’s def something to do with the new update.
I cannot send a bug report because it sort of freezes the computer besides the mouse,i have to end gw 2 processes to be able to carry on,but the send bug disappears doing that.

Ever since the new patch from the 2nd week of February’s patch, i have been getting random crashes from venturing world, using waypoint, getting into battle ground eb and it has come to a point where my computer even gets blue screen, and system repair. I have done almost everything that has been suggested in the forum, including reinstalling the game, run repair, updated my graphic drivers and even set the target with -repair, to no avail, nothing has worked. Same problem again. Can someone give me some answers? This is frustrating.

This is actually really easy to read; which makes me laugh because the NCSoft support team apparently can’t read them correctly. Your game was trying to use an animation that was “missing.” Which usually means it’s trying to do something your specific character cannot do. Again; this falls back on bad programming.

Same here, this is my first month playing. I enjoyed the game the first 3 weeks, now these problems. It seems to crash less… or to not crash at all when I put “Best performance” setting on advanced graphical settings. This is crazy, because I bought a new PC just for Gw2 and playing it with almost medium settings… I worked 6 months just to buy it, what a shame!

I got a crash-flatrate since the this last update!

befor, everything was next to perfect, maybe two crashs a month.
My systems crashs randomly, couldnt find any relation to whats happening ingame. After the “first” random crash, I cant log in with this exact char (will crash in map loading screen) but with others beeing not in the same map. they will crash in the next 2-120mins too, but they will crash for sure if I travl to the map where the first char crashs. The crashs’ reasons differ too, mostly corrupted archives or wrong animations at first. After this, when it crashs in loading screen or earlier, the game cant find some ’root’s and no childs or what ever. The onyl thing I can do is: repair, log in with an differen char, wait, try to log in with old map crashing char again, wait for next crash – infinite loop.

But I got the feeling it crashs more often with alt+tap or “game in window” … not sure about this.

I did:
- download and “install” game again
- delete .dat
- scandisk/repair
- install on diffenrent hdd
- update all drivers everywhere
- different ingame options

You guys did just destroy the game with this patch ^^

My game has been crashing too after the most recent patch. Have did the repair command everytime it crashed, but nothing happened. Redownloaded the game, upgraded to the latest whql nvidia drivers after the crashing, no change, still crashing.

This is just as bad as all the BS the NC Soft team feeds you.

I can’t stress this enough. It’s something w/in the programming of the game itself. You can run all of the maintenance and preventative measures from here to kingdom come. Whatever they have changed to the structure of the game since roughly the Karka event has caused the game itself to become very unstable.

A response to any of these post about the constant crashing would be nice………..

No response over multiple threads of the same nature. Id suggest everyone stops buying gems and tells everyone they know not to buy any gems as well until this problem is fixed.

I just bought the game and have been looking forward to playing, but it is currently unplayable with the frequency of interruptions and hard resets. I did manage to get a few lucky crashes that actually had a crash log, so i’ll share here, in case any of you have suggestions for me.

1. Was a game data being stupid crash
2. Hard drive error while reading the program, which caused game to crash
3. You ran out of memory; whether it be virtual or physical, GW2 is putting the cache data somewhere where it ran out of memory.

A posting of your machine’s specs would help tremendously. The people that Anet has moderating the forums are most likely not as technically inclined as the programmers who wrote the code.

But what was really useful was the last section of what you posted. It is a reference to your video card. My suggestion is to try different video drivers.

The only crashes I’ve ever had are from sound. When there are tons of people on screen in WvWvW, the sound goes bonkers, replaying a single tone over and over again. I was able to reduce crashes due to sound by making tweaks in the audio settings and have yet to experience a crash.

As a matter of fact, I can’t remember the last time I crashed from audio. And I have never crashed from video.

any chance of this code getting fixed soon? having your computer crash and being forced to run repairs on the client everyday is a chore and detracts from the overall game experience.
