Guild Wars 2

Hey there,
I was able to play today in the morning, logged out and after 4 hours, I wasnt able to get in game again.

I press play, the launcher closes and the guildwars2.exe on the task manager doesnt get past the 150mb on the ram.

Any idea why this is happening?

Ouch! Not good… I would suggest you:
1) Check if your HDD health is ok, with a S.M.A.R.T. monitoring app, like this free one for example.
2) If it’s ok, see if you have any kind of file system corruption. For that, open an elevated command prompt (Run as admin…) and type chkdsk c: /f (replace c: with the drive letter of all your drives, better check all). If it asks to dismount the drive, say No, and say Yes for doing the check in the next reboot. Now, reboot!
3) If everything is ok so far, run gw2.exe with the option -repair. Edit the gw2 shortcut and append -repair at the end, like “…\Guild Wars 2” -repair. This will check to see if all game files are correct. You can remove the -repair afterwards.

I have tried to delete the local.dat file in the guildwars2 folder, rebooting, reinstalling the nvidia driver but nothing worked so far.

Hi Ashley, I ve tried to install the new driver, but its still not working.
Its weird because it stoppped working all of a sudden…
Im not sure it a game patch occurred inbetween

my wife is having the same problem was able to play up to last night when the launcher would just hang on a black screen and gw2 would become unresponsive ctrl alt del only way to get unhung and now this morning she is getting hung on 50% in the launcher then the error 23 msg game was running just fine like a day ago then blammy its non responsive hdd check out fine and all her drivers are upto date mem all good just gw2 that is causin her pc to go bonkers

I’m having the same issue. So far I haven’t found any solutions. :\ It happened a while back, too, with one character, but it fixed itself somehow in less than a day. It was when GW2 had just launched to the public. I’m thinking I’m having the issues again now that they have opened up sales again and we have more people flooding in. But how do I fix it so I can play? Just keep waiting until it fixes itself like the first time? Now it’s been well over 24 hours and I can’t login to 2 of my characters. I can login to other characters that didn’t crash, and I can create new ones. But the two that crashed suddenly are not able to login.
