Guild Wars 2

I copied my friends GW2 client (roughly 19 gb) into a folder. The .dat, .exe, and .tmp file are all in the same folder. When I run the .exe it seems as though the launcher downloads the entire game again (around 28k files.). Is this just a really big update? It has been a while since I last played. I stopped the launcher at roughly 2.5gb downloaded when I saw only 4% has been downloaded.

I tried running the repair but it yielded no result.

I’d prefer not to download the whole thing again Please help!

The thing is that I don’t have uncapped broadband at the moment. Me and my fiancée want to jam some GW2 again. Thought I’d just quickly update to last patch and copy the client over to her. But if we both have to download the client, well, no GW2 then lol : /

The large number of files to be updated could be from you friends GW2 install being out of date. If they are not currently playing, they could be missing one or more updates and some of the recent ones (last 60 to 90 days) have been quite large. If it turns out he is not actively playing now, you might ask him to run the patcher and get his install up to date and then get a fresh copy of the two important files from him. If he is currently playing (and therefor is up to date), you might ask him to run a repair on his install just to make sure everything is fully updated and nothing is corrupted.

You can copy the GW2.dat and GW2.exe from one computer to another computer so you only have to run the install / patch process once. I did this when I had to do a format and reinstall of Windows. You only need to copy Gw2.exe and Gw2.dat to run the game and both must be placed in the same folder. For simplicity, create a GW2 folder on your desktop, place Gw2.exe and Gw2.dat in that folder, right click Gw2.exe, select properties, unblock it if it’s blocked and then run Gw2.exe

The full game is nearly 300k files, so I’d guess you’re just downloading a patch, unless you missed a 0.
