Guild Wars 2

I have a Geforce 9800 GT.
When I first installed GW2, I found that the only way I could play the game was with minimal settings. Being a tech support myself, I began to take the obvious steps:
- opening firewall, antivirus and router ports.
- Updating the graphical drivers.

Nothing changed. I resigned to play on the lowest graphic options (still having a lot of fun!)
But yesterday, the launcher had a pop-up, that informed me that my card was on a list of known issues, and that I should install some beta drivers from Nvidia. It totaly fixed the issue, I was able to play with graphics on max, even with vertical sync, without any lag! Wow!

But today, when I logged, I am unable to play, in any settings at all. Like before, the animations on the abilities keep happening on the UI, but the character won’t react. I can only walk, combat and interactions do not happen…

Any solution for this? Fresh DxDiag attached.

which betas did u install?

Yes there is new beta drivers out for nvidia cards, however this person is lieing, there is no way in hell a 9800 GT could play this on max settings and not lag, you’d be getting 5 fps if your lucky.

i was getting 60fps on low settings using a 9500

@Zeikai: I have no interest in lying. I do have an interest in facts that you do not seem to be able to provide. Either be objective or go flame somewhere else. And by the way, FPS are always pretty bad.

Thing is, when I saw the pop-up on the launcher, they said it was a known issue, but I can’t find any technical data on the forum yet.

I am having the exact same issue with this card. In options I am setting the default graphic to performance and still get 10-15 FPS.

My wife is playing on a laptop with a nvidia 9600m gs card and is getting 30fps constant on all low settings.

I have the same graphic card and having a frame issue aswell. It turned out my gpu keeps going to about 100 degrees c every time i play GuildWars 2. It will be fine the first hour or 30 min(running at 30-60 fps) then it starts to overheat(runs at 5-10 fps). I can run team fortress 2 , left 4 dead 2 and other games fine. I don’t know what the problem is.

TF2 and L4D is less taxing of the GPU than GW2 hence it runs cooler. For example, I play TF2 and my GPU always at 10-20% Utilization. In GW2 it uses 60-90% and runs hotter.

• Get better system ventilation
• Clean dust
• Re-apply thermal compound or install better heatsink/fan
• Underclock or frame limit the GPU.

9800 GT with max sett no lag ?
Seriously Im not sure but you werent high back then ? didn’t do crack or anything ?

im having GTX 260 core 216 (OC’d) which is much, much better then 9800GT and I can’t play on everything on MAX without losing good portion on FPS.
