I’ve had graphical issues since release, so I updated my RAM and graphics card (To an Nvidia 9800 GT) back in October, and still had many graphical issues, errors, freezes, and crashes. I was having menus and AoE ground target skills turn into green and blue grids, as did cutscenes, character models, and environment textures.

I upgraded my graphics card again, to an EVGA NVidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti, and for 45m-1hr, I was running most of the graphical options on high with some on medium. It was absolutely beautiful, and I knew why so many people had recommended using those settings. Then, out of nowhere all of my previous problems came rushing back tenfold. I am having the same problems with this card, as I had with my old one, with an added bonus, yellow!

I know I need to upgrade my entire machine, but I’m broke. I don’t have cash on hand for even a cheap quick fix, so I am wondering if there’s anything I can do, beyond lowering all graphical settings to low as I’ve already done to no avail, or if my situation is completely hopeless and I should just find another game.

Perhaps you can give us a better idea with what is going on if you supply us with what your computer specifications are (besides your GPU), things like the CPU tend to be helpful to know along with the amount of RAM you have and its speeds.

However, something that can be a common problem across all systems is heat. So lets make sure nothing is overheating in your system. If you don’t already have software that monitors the CPU and GPU temperatures, then I recommend grabbing HWMonitor which can be found here:

No worries, my computer probably really shouldn’t even be trying to run the game, but it’s all I’ve got. I run a custom made machine that I was going to upgrade, but lost my job around the time I would have, and don’t make enough to do so now.
Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4500 @2.20GHz, 3.5GB usable RAM out of 8GB installed (because it’s 32bit), and the 650 Ti as I mentioned above. I use Speccy and my temps are all below 85 degrees fahrenheit while idle, and never rise above 105.
I’ve also gotten rid of the old drivers, installed the most recent ones, repaired the GW2 client, and defragmented. After all of which, I restarted the machine, and still get the same results.

You run a machine very similiar to my siblings machine, the only difference is their C2D is at 2.0Ghz and they only have 2GB of RAM. When you said 85 idle and 105 load, you likely have some heating issues which cause funky colors to show up. I highly recommend cleaning that computer of yours. Under load you should never approach 95C, upper/mid 80’s is what I still consider the safe zone that allows time to do something in case some crazy accident to happens where my fan’s controller decides to rock at 40% instead of 80% speed which increases the temperature to unsafe levels. Hopefully the excess heat has not damaged any of your components permanently.

I was playing with a 32bit Windows, AMD Athlon X2, 2GB RAM and a gtx 260 Nvidia card. My biggest problem were crashes caused by my 32bit OS and the low amount of available RAM. Crashes happened once every hour more or less. When I updated my hardware crashes disappeared and so did the long loading screens,
That said I don’t think you PC doesn’t meet minimum requirements, maybe is a setup thing (I don’t know much about PCs so that was just a wild guess).

Yeah, I’ve heard from some friends that simply upgrading the OS could allow for better ease, because there’s more available space to store things on while you’re playing. Sadly I can’t afford 64 bit anything right now.

His machine exceeds the stated minimum requirements set by ArenaNet. With that said, he is teetering on that line.
