Graphics Card change causing crashes
This continues to happen but just when zoning into highly populated areas. I dont get lag in WvW or LA event (35 to 45 fps).

Im not sure what windows you are actually running, but the OOM is Out of Memory error, this is a common error with windows 32bit OS, just search the forums for out of memory and see how many results you get,
My guess is that your old card was not running higher settings so you did not run into this problem, and your new card can run the game with higher settings, try lower your settings and see if this helps, the only real fix for this it to upgrade to a windows 64 bit OS.

I’m no expert but that part strikes me as a possible driver issue. It seems like it’s not loading certain game resources. Did you Uninstall the NVidia drivers/application from control panel when you upgraded?
I would try a driver cleaner to make sure you don’t still have remnants of NVidia drivers on your computer still. I’m not sure if DriverCleaner is still free but if you google it you can find the website. There is another one that I cannot remember the name of (sorry, I’m at work and don’t have all my stuff handy )
I would remove NVidia display AND your AMD display driver, and then reinstall the AMD driver.

If he is running a 32bit OS, with that R9 card, he just cut his own foot off.
32Bit OS’s see a max of 4GB of ram (if PAE is enabled, I think the max is 16GB of ram). But’ I am going to assume PAE is not enabled for the OP in this discussion.
That card has 2GB of ram, His system has 4GB of ram(just saying, could be less). With out PAE his system ram is only 2.25GB out of the possible 4GB due to the presence of his GPU.
That is why he must upgrade to 64Bit. So that his system ram does not get choked by having a 2GB+ GPU.
And that is most likely why his system is currently crashing. GW2 will use ALOT of ram if you have the ingame options set high enough. If the system runs out of ram it must page it, if it cannot page the memory requests fast enough, it will become unstable and crash whatever application is using the bulk of the ram.
Giving that his current system ram is about 2.25GB, windows will boot with 900Megs in use, not including other applications…so lets say his OS sits at 1.4GB of ram in use. that leaves 850Megs of ram for GW2 to soak up. if he runs Firefox, IE, Java/Flash based applications on top of GW2 (like Pandora or Spotify) he now has less then 400Megs for GW2 to run.
Hence the OOM issues.

I knew there was a 4gb limit with 32 bit OS, but I had no idea the VRAM on a video card had any bearing on it. O_O
Guess that explains why I used to have crashing issues with LOTRO that went away when I installed 64 bit Win 7 lol.
Still though, I’d like to understand why this is. Is there a thing I can research that explains this? (I’m mostly self taught, so there’s plenty I don’t know).

It has to do with the memory footprint that can be allocated under the 32bit mask. 2^32 in Bytes = 4GB.
Here is a better explaination if you want to read more up on 32bit vs 64bit in memory addressing.

I switched from an older nVidia to a r9 270x and now when i zone i get the attached crash log. I checked my roaming data but those are from November when I had the old card in.
If you weren’t crashing before; I’d say that the new video card is defective.
However, I recommend removing the old video card drivers first; as they may conflict with the drivers for the new card. You can use Driver Sweeper (link below) to do this, just be careful using it.
Also, I believe the heap error is saying that the memory on the video card is failing – not that your system is running out of memory.

I already removed the old drivers, booted to onboard graphics, installed new amd drivers then the card.
My last 2GB nVidia card ran just fine in the same setup, the only difference in the cards is processing speed.
I run very minimal settings in lag zones anyways so it isnt that.
As you can see physical memory was 47% on the first log, 53% on this log……it doesnt appear to be the MB ram.

The log shows you 47% and 53% but in truth the game can’t access it all, some of it is reserved for the system and that’s the best possible reason why it’s crashing.
To counter this you can turn on the 3GB Switch which will let you increase the amount of ram your applications can use and fix your crashes.
My friend has a laptop with 3GB Ram and a 512MB 9500M GS video card, the game used to crash on almost every major events, we turned on the 3GB Switch (we split memory to 2.5GB for applications and 512MB for the system) and the crashes stopped. I can’t guarantee this works for everyone but I’ve read that some other people have had success with it.
The game wont patch with the 3GB switch turned on.
