Server: Yak’s Bend

So, I’m not sure if it’s Windows 8 that I just installed or if it’s just been like this since the last major update, but I have been having extreme lag issues with GW2 the past week. Skills delay between 3 to 5 seconds before they even begin casting, mobs rubber band or stay still for a while and then they suddenly appear somewhere else or multiple attacks are done at once. I know my internet is fine I downloaded 7 gigs of data yesterday in less than an hour. My speedtest also shows everything to be fine. I also play LoL and Diablo 3 and everything works fine there.

I’m not posting this to bash on Anet or anything I just want to know if anyone else has had issues like this with windows 8 or the update. Also if anyone has a fix please let me know.

I’ve also read some posts about similar issues but they don’t seem to resolve the problem or are just not as informative.

By the way my location is Atlanta, GA just in case this could be related to someone else from Atlanta not being able to connect correctly to Anet servers.

If anyone from Anet reads please try to take a look see if there’s something wrong with maybe a port on the servers. I don’t know really but I’ve been trying to be patient the whole week and just want to get some help or make sure there’s nothing I can do on my side.

P.S. also forgot to mention things I have tried already.

*Disabled Firewall/Antivirus – didn’t work
*Give GW2.exe exceptions to run through Firewall/Antivirus- didn’t work
*Run GW2.exe in compatibility mode for Windows 7/Windows XP (Service Pack 3) – didn’t work
*Run GW2.exe in administrator mode – didn’t work
*Demilitarize any traffic from and to my computer. – didn’t work
*Installed Leatrix Latency Fix – didn’t work
*Restarted router several times – didn’t work

I don’t have windows 8, but since the last big update i have similar lag that makes the game unplayable. My internet is also fine, it has to have been something recent. Unfortunately I haven’t found any fixes- i was hoping there would be a patch or an update that would address the lag.

This seems weird how I downloaded that same patch but have no problems. Why would people update from windows 7 to 8 they even fired the guy over it at MS.

I am running Windows 8 Pro 64bit, same issues happening to me, and around the same time (started with Lost Shores)…but there are quite a few of us with lag issues, and most everyone else says their woes also started around the same time. Still sitting tight waiting for an official fix.

Wow that’s a bit extreme, to be fired for voicing an opinion ? you wouldn’t happen to have a Link to that ? I ask cause my brother just got me Win 8 Pro Still on win 7 atm and (I keep getting) mixed opinions on Win 7 vs Win 8 :/. The more info the better lolz.

OK, your point? I have Win8 Pro 64bit, a 38down/5up connection,a great rig (i7 3770, GTW 660ti, 16g ram, Z77 mobo, 850psu, etc) and I have had nothing but major lag since the update, and I am not the only one. Not sure what you broke, but gratz with the game, enjoy.

I have had the same problem running window 8 64bit pro! had the game since it came out with no problems until one of the last updates.Its interesting to note that guild wars 2 doesn’t support windows 8 and doesn’t run well on multi core cpus! what kind of computer were they using to make game Pentium 4s?lol I haven’t been playing game since this issue has ruined my playing experience! NCsoft id love a game that would take advantage of my state of the art computer!!! I hope theirs a fix coming?Thanks

Same here, I love the game, and am masochistic in playing at least for my dalies and maybe some wvw jumping puzzles (well not anymore) with maybe 10fps, but I honestly am holding out for Anet to figure this out, fix it, and let those of us with the issue enjoy the game.

The game ran gorgeously before the Lost Shores update, and hasn’t looked as good since, not even a shadow of the way it used to perform.
