Gw2Setup.exe 0kbps NEED HELP!!
Technical Support
Hey there,
I’d start with an “MSCONFIG” since you have quite a few apps running in the background and I just want to be sure none of them are interfering with the installation. If that doesn’t work, I’d like for you to follow up with clearing your DNS cache. You could also try using Google’s public DNS to see if this helps as well.
To flush your DNS please try the steps below:
1. Click Start.
2. Select Programs.
3. Select Accessories and locate the Command Prompt shortcut.
4. Right click the Command Prompt shortcut and select Run as Administrator from the drop down menu.
6. Type ipconfig /release in the command prompt.
6. Wait a few seconds for a reply that the IP address has been released.
7. Type ipconfig /renew in the command prompt.
8. Wait a few seconds for a reply that the IP address has been re-established.
9. Type ipconfig /flushdns in the command prompt.
10. Close the command prompt and attempt to make a connection.
This should clear your DNS cache. You may need to perform this command a few times.
If the issue persists your ISP may be providing old DNS information. Some ISPs take longer to update this information. You could also try using a 3rd party DNS service like those available at http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ or http://www.opendns.com/start/ . Please note that ArenaNet and NCSOFT does not support these services, but there is information on configuring them at those sites.
Sad to say it still did not work msconfig, changing my DNS posted a image what it looks like

Some advice that helped me (in the linked post) changing my dns to 8.8.8.8 and alt to 8.8.4.4 helped.
I am having this same issue…. I have not been able to play the game for a while now because the thing will download like 15 files during the patch and stop completely… I had over 130,000 files to download a few days ago…. I still have 127,521…. it just stops downloading period and I am forced to close the launcher and start all over again, I called my ISP to ask if they was throttling my connection and they said no, that everything on there end was fine, they then had me run a few tests and confirmed that the connection issue was related to the server I was attempting to connect to and patch from, in this case, Anets patch server, this has been an issue for almost 3 months now… I am forced to open and close until it patchs everything up, only now im forced to start all over because I followed supports advice and reformatted my PC (erased EVERYTHING and restored it to factory settings) needless to say, that still did NOT fix my issue… can some one PLEASE fix this crap or post manual updates on the website so we can patch up that way… according to google there are forum posts on this topic dating all the way back to 2012… really…. fix this crap please….

Sorry for the late reply it Did work! Thank you for the help
I’m having the same issue. My download starts, but after some files downloaded(ranging from 10mb-150mb) the speed drops to 0kb/sec and I’m forced to restart the launcher again. I’ve managed to get to 2GB with this method, losing about probably 6 hours of my life(well, I did other sutff but had to check after a couple of minutes the launcher). As a semi-solution(which has proven not usefull at all), I managed to make the launcher restart after a timeout with the -timeout command. This achieved me 300mb in 1 1/2 hours, so I could left my computer alone but I won’t recommend this as a solution.
What I have gathered as information throughout several posts and tested but didn’t work:
- AVG. I first disdabled it, then unistalled it.
- Port fowarding of ports 80, 443, 6112, 6600.
- Disabling my router firewall.
- Disabling my firewall.
- Adding an inbound and outbound rule for ports 80, 443, 6112, 6600.
- Making my DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
- Flushing my DNS as stated on the FAQ (with the ipconfig /renew)
- Trying the Timeout command(Yield a result but THIS is clearly not the solution).
- Trying the Winsock reset.
- Trying the -timeout command.
- Running in Windows XP compatibility mode.
- Running as Administrator.
- Deleting the gw2.temp file, gw2.dat that holds the launcher(not the game itself).
It isn’t a short list, and I can’t seem to understand how people are still running into this issue. I’ve found posts ranging from the game launch(which is understandable) until this day. Please, if there’s a solution and I missed it, tell me about it. I’m reinstalling the game after about a year of not playing and just want to play again.
Thanks,
Zolotium
yeah, I still cant play… it worked before the release of the weekly content was released and ever since then I have never been able to patch correctly, I submitted several support tickets and they always say it is my Connection when I know full well its not, I can update any game I choose on my computer without errors and I can play any game I wish on my 360 with no problems as all… I even called my ISP (AT&T) and had them test my connection, they said it was fine and nothing was wrong with it, it was not being throttled, all my ports were testing fine as well, yet Anet continues to put the blame on my connection… hello? are they all taking “Stupid” pills, how can it be MY connection when everyone else is having the same dern issue……
