HD Radeon 7970
Very large amounts of people having problems like this.. Im stuck on 7 fps and it’s literally unplayable, which makes me very angry when I see messages about how they are prioritizing hacked accounts, when I can’t even play either.
Also, I might be wrong in thinking this, but I think you have a bad processor choice. You might have 8 cores but games are mostly dual threaded and each core is very low in individual power? You might want to look into this and getting one of them replaced with something beefier

Nothing wrong with your card at all. You shouldn’t have even upgraded, you won’t even notice any performance increase with such slow processors. They are going to totally choke any current gen GPU. Your going to need >3Ghz i7, preferably 4Ghz to really let the 7970 shine.

He got a workstation. I think with 2 server CPU’s that’s enough even for 7970.
@OP
It might be a driver issue or game engine issue atm.

I know he does, however, it’s raw mhz that count (which he is severely lacking) in GW2, not core Qty.

hmm i have a 7970 i52500 @ 4.9ghz and its running amazing for me apart from the lines which have been commented on in another thread
tbh i think it is your CPU that is letting you down,

I get 20 fps in WvWvW. Meh, i’m done with this game, such a joke that it wont run on this PC. And Flash Hardware Acceleration is turned off.
Specs:
– 2x Xeon Quad Core Processors 2.26GHz (8 physical cores)
– Asus HD Radeon 7970 Direct CUII @ stock settings
– 12GB DDR3 RAM (6 × 2GB Modules, Triple channel)
– 256 OCZ Vertex 3 SSD
In anticipation for the release of GW2 I purchased a brand new Asus HD Radeon 7970 DCUII. This was an upgrade from my 6970. While playing I"ve run into several performance issues and they seem very sporadic. Lately everything seems to be falling apart. My FPS is very inconsistent ranging from 15 to 120. Whenever I’m on a flat surface I see grid lines running through all parts of the polygons. I get random screen flashes and my camera zooms in randomly. I get light blue windows through sides of polygons where they join others. Sometimes I’m running the game at 60fps solid and full graphics. Other times I can barely play, its so choppy. Amount of people and movement doesn’t seem to effect things. Sometimes I get good performance in large groups. Other times I’m all alone and 15fps. Lowering graphic settings doesn’t increase fps. Sometimes I get better performance at higher graphic settings. My question is, should I RMA this card, or is this just something with software/drivers?
I got the same GPU and I get 20 fps in WvWvW. There is nothing wrong with your GPU. Sadly, it’s the game. However, it’s worth checking your drivers.
im having the same problem. hope they fix this or what was the point of me getting 7970!!
Yo Serbius,
Although I’m not doubting your knowledge, the easiest thing for some people to forget is their power supply for graphic cards they pick up.
A lot of new graphic cards, especially ones with OC features/profiles suck up a lot of juice, especially in heavier graphic intensive games like this one.
Now that’s been said, which drivers did you install? Did you attempt to install the ones that came w/ a CD in your box, then update through http://www.amd.com?
Sometimes although drivers are installed, and updated; old profiles can linger around and have a negative effect on your graphics card causing errors, or things as you explained.
Let me know, I perhaps have a solution for you, otherwise good luck!

Oh, I wanted to mention I’m running a 7970 as well, and have no problems.

Don’t RMA. A lot of us are in this boat.
