Hardware Failure on new gaming rig
Can you be a bit more specific with the error? Application crash? Blue screen?
Well error says something about cpu or ram who get overheated or have a failure.
Then if you click ok you get redirected to http://www.guildwars.com/support/en-hardwarefailure.php
overheating can’t be the prob and failure of my gear makes me laugh
tested all of those with the current programs for it and all are 100% bugg free.
So must be gw
That’s the first one of those errors I’ve seen in the last few days.
Stress test your PC. Don’t be overconfident.
To start, download this program called SpeedFan and give us an idea on the GPU and CPU temps. Also please give the exact error you are receiving.
lol as i said the °c is not the issue, pc isn’t even running the game
it’s before i get the char selection
And first i’ve seen…
If you google about it you see allot of people suffer the same issue with self made gaming pc’s.
Gonna take a snap shot tomorrow and post it.

and so on
Yea..probably because they’ve done something wrong. I’ve built 4 of the PCs in my family and none of them do that.
Airflow? cable management? PSU connectors properly plugged in?
Lol everything works fine!
Airflow => 500R corsair case, gelid CPU cooler, windforce gigabyte GPU
cable management see the case, psu all worked out fine.
As you can read some of those systems are running way harder games to process easily and then they can’t run gw2. Then that raises questions with me.
Screenshot please along with the error.
And yet the error specifically states hardware failure so..
What is the exact error?
You probably have an unstable memory, or one that is not very compatible with your Motherboard.
Unlikely that the memory isn’t compatible, I’d say a better chance of an instability with the CPU. I give up until the error is specified and/or a screenshot is attached.
Incompatible memory mostly comes with a Stop error (Bsod) but in rare cases it can just cause the screen to go black.
Can you write up your rig? I have no idea what rig spec you have.
on work now can only say my spec
and no it’s not a mem failure did memtest for couple of houres => 100% pass
never had a black screen or whatso ever
specs:
gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H (rev. 1.0)
i5 3750K (not overclocked) with gelid aftermarked cooler
8gb ram twin set vengeance LP blue edition (corsair)
windforce gtx670 gigabyte (not overclocked)
Owk back again.
And tests where done!
memtest86 => 100% pass
prime95 stress test =>100% pass
burnintest (cpu/ram/2D video) => 100% pass
stayed around 55°C
so if you say it’s an overheating prob I say no it is
You say it’s a hardware failure => tests say no it is.
Only one left GW2 problem => i say yes it is
so pls aid or fix this!
for those who want to see the error window : http://puu.sh/zLza
Are you using any overlays like EVGA, MSI? if so turn those off,had the same problems with EVGA in a beta test till i installed the recent one.
i also have the 3570k and the gigabyte gtx 670 and i am having this issue also.
I thought i’d post here being i’ve fixed the issue with my computer. I feel ZaxanRazor was completely ignorant to the original poster, if a user states his pc is fine don’t tell him how you’ve built pc’s and they didn’t have his problems..
I built my own PC, i have a degree in computing and know my pc had no ‘malfunction’. If i came to this forum i wouldn’t want to be told my pc was broken by someone who had no clue about my situation. My guild wars was glitched from using the MSI afterburner overlay, uninstalling the program remedied the glitch instantly. Don’t know if thats anyones problem too but try disabling any application with some sort of overlay! maybe if you added GW2 as a non steam game and its trying to overlay the game with steam community etc.
It wasn’t ignorant, he posted no useful information and was overly defensive in a way that suggested he wouldn’t accept any help if it had anything to do with his machine.
Still missing the full error message. When it hits an error, it also provides a code in one of the corners of the window indicating what it saw.
But this may not be a direct hardware problem. Security suites are causing a lot of problems with this game, and the 6xx drivers are still kind of wonky.
Agree with masterludda.3476 and IBG Richy.1426
If your running overlays on high detection level you will probably catch the “Possible Hardward Malfunction” Dialog.

Thank you so much! My MSI OSD was set to high—set it to low and now it works fine
I’ve run all tests and all show 0% errors. I only crash in Lions Arch after about 10min, this was before it was attacked. I haven’t played GW2 recently to see if it was fixed with the attack.
The Problem: BSOD – Hardware Malfunction, only in GW2 (Lions Arch only)…
Can run Skyrim while 3ds max renders, and/or have 10x more stuff running that uses way more everything and 0 problems
System(Not OverClocked):
CPU – I7 875k 2.93
Cooling – Corsair H60
Mobo – EVGA P55 FTW
Ram – 8gigs DDR3 G-Skill
VCard – Galaxy GTX560Ti
Power – 750w Corsair
Temps: (GPU 50c)(CPU 45c)

Havent tested in the new Destroyed L.A.
As_-U-ME-ing your new hardware can’t have a failure is not very realistic here…..(see first word).
If possible, remove half the ram and test. Then remove the OTHER half and test again. (keep in mind that programs can stress different memory locations and not all memory tests are good enough to find questionable memory locations).
Then again, it could be the overlay issue mentioned above.
