Having horrible lagspikes for about 2 days
I have the same problems and it feels like they are doing some tests with the servers for the coming patch. Anyway its horrible laggy and unplayable.
The worst is wvw for me. One map is running fine but i cant follow my mobile-zerg to other maps because some lagging, others do not.
Then on primetime the whole game laggs- people running forward, backward etc…
edit: those laggspikes seem to come randomly, some people running fine, others begin to lag earlier than i do, others rarely and its on all maps (pve/pvp/wvw)

Yeah I dont even dare to jump into wvw atm, tried to do the LA-event and it was just a big joke.
Same here, perma lag issue , having like 1sec delay on spvp and mcm it’s kinda killing the fun atm.
This sounds like an issue I’ve been fighting for a while, but I think I found something that works.
First of all, make sure it’s not your connection that’s the issue. You can do this by running a Traceroute (instructions on that here: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/27698133-Connectivity). If that’s not your issue, check out the steps I outlined in my post here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Sporadic-Lag-DC-but-no-connection-issues/
hey Dahkeus when your step 4 says “reboot” does that mean my PC or guild wars 2
Thanks for the tip Dahkeus, I will give it a try.
@ Doomdice: Im pretty sure he means the PC since the setting is in windows itself and it asks you to reboot after doing the change.

The PC
Do a TraceRt to 64.25.38.171, chances are you are being affected by a faulty network node on your way to the Anet servers.

If thats the problem, then i dont think the users should fix it with such a complicated way (for me its is). Anet should fix it.
the problem is some servers and not all . for example when i am playing in pve ( all maps are hosted in my server = Aurora Glade ) ALL are just fine .yesterday i did all the massive pve events in curse orr and malhor’s leap and all was fine , but my www experience was horrible and i didn’t stay long time inside the www.
the last week in www we fought against baruch bay and drakkar lake and was just fine , nobody had problem , but after friday’s reset we are playing against gunnars hold and desolation and i and a lot of our players had horrible lags .
i did a investigation and i found that some servers ( if someone type /ip he will find the ip of the server that host the current instance ) have very big packets lost inside leve3 network , while other instances have not any packet lost problem.
so , for me the problem is located between leve3.net and plaync.com and not for all servers but for some of them
p.s. when i will go to my home i will post the evidence photos of the pathping commands

Okay Reborn that is interesting I guess, not really sure how or even why to test the package loss. If I found out that there was a loss, is there anything I can do about that?
Or is it up to anet to fix it if thats the case?
Same, I did a tracert and i’ve been getting multiple RTO. WVW is unplayable, but PVE maps seems to be alright. My experience in WVW is major skill lag(or skills not going off), random disconnections, and not being able to react/have my character move around(being stuck in one place).
I think because of the recent maintenance? I’m not really sure what’s causing this really.

how i tested :
i login to a www map and i type in game chat the command :
/ip
it shows me the ip of the current map ( each www map has different ip ) and then i open a command line in windows by typing the word in search box :
cmd
when the black console appears i type the command inside it without the [ ] :
pathping [ip of_the_server that i found from the chat inside the game]
more than 5% packet loss it is creating the effect of lag / skill lag and lag spikes in gw2 consider the algorithms that created by the tcp /ip protocol (0,1 % accepted loss) and how the game’s network code writen !
Well Im not sure how to read the info I got. At the last 3 “hops” (?) it says.
Lost / Sent = Pct
100 / 100 = 100%
all of the other ones say
Lost / Sent = Pct
0 / 100 = 0%
This is what it looks like. I did have to remove a “:0” after the ip i got or it wouldnt work.. maybe that was stupid?
I probably sound like an idiot but hey, we all gotta learn sometime!

the ip 213.71.135.138 is creating the problem for you and if you type this ip to domaintools.com (a site to help in whois service ) it answers that this ip located in ncsoft
Hey Guys from NC USA …send a technician to datacenter , there is a big rat eating the wires there

Haha okay cool. At least I feel a little wiser, and its kind of nice that its probably not something I managed to mess up.
Thanks for you help Reborn!
Now I’ll just play the waiting-game.
After some more extensive testing together with the support we came to the conclussion that it was my internet provider that was to blame.
For now my lag is actually gone, more or less, so i’ll wait a bit and yell at them if it comes back.
The support was very helpful and quick though, two asuran thumbs up!

Your wrong on your diagnosis. And pingpath is a POOR choice of tool to use for troubleshooting Internet bound Packets.
In the Screenshot you referenced, the actual issue is at IP 146.188.15.230 FFT1.ALTER.NET
That is where his Lag Spikes start with a 111MS spike, right after his normal 53MS spike.
The 100% packet loss is normal, as every internet bound router is going to drop 99% of the ICMP Traffic as a prevention against Denial of Service Attacks. You will be able to get in 32byte ICMP responses to normal ping requests, but PingPath floods ICMP data to a node, and that Node starts to drop those types of packets. IIRC Ping path does 6 sets of 8 ICMP attempts in order to get a better % on RRT.
PingPath is OK to use in private VR (MPLS) networks as a troubleshooting tool (as long as you have NHRP enabled) but it is NOT a good tool to use for internet bound testing.

Terrible lag ever since the aftermath patch….. I refuse to play atm because it’s so terrible.
Please address the issue ANET
I am having the same issue as people are describing here. For me, it seems to happen most often in WvW on a ghost town server during off hours. My ping is consistently <100ms so I’m not sure what the issue is on GW2’s end, but I really hope it gets fixed. x_x
