Hello. Recently ordered a 7970 video card instead of my old 560 without Ti. Also thinking about changing the processor…

I’ll tell you a little story, and because of that I started to doubt:

My configuration:
AMD Phenom X6 1100T
8 GB DDR3 1333 (2 sticks)
GForce GTX 560 1 GB
Windwos 7 x64 Pro

The configuration of my friend:
AMD FX 4300
6 GB DDR3 1333 (3 sticks)
GForce GTX 660 Ti
Windwos 7 x64 Pro

I was personally involved in the purchase, assembly and installation of the software on each computer. Both computers were the latest drivers.
The first thing we did – launched GW2 with the same settings for the test performance gain on the last computer (CPU frequency above, graphics card is better…): at exactly the same action my fps was higher by ~10!

Actually now the issue of changing the processor is very serious. I will not do worse if change my 1100T for FX 4350 or FX 8350? It might be worth it to not change at all?

fx 4300 is inferior to 1100T… I doubt you will get noticable increase even though you get fx8350 and not overclock it like 5ghz. 7970 is an overkill for 1080p GW2 only gameplay. (meaning if gw2 is the only game you play its not necessary.)

fx 4300 is inferior to 1100T…

What exactly is inferior? I understand that comparing the 4 cores with 6 not correct, but that does not use GW2 plainly and 2, true? That is, the bill goes to the frequency of one core.

And if you look in the direction of intel? What processor advise to upgrade to the 1100t? I heard recently released a new line of processors.

I wouldn’t recommend upgrading, the performance gain, if any, is very little. The only way to take advantage of the newer AMD processors is to overclock them into the sky.

The new Intel processors you speak of are codenamed Haswell. If you’re into just gaming and not streaming while gaming or audio/video encoding, then the i5 4670K is nice. If you do stream and do loads of encoding, then the i7 4770K might be worth your while.

As above. OC or change to intel.

Also, the 7970 is by no means overkill for 1080p gameplay, so have at it
Hell even a GTX 780 is not overkill for 1080p gameplay.
Those that say otherwise obviosly do not play the right games or use max settings. Metro, Farcry3,Crysis 3..games like those when maxed out and with MSAA at 1080p can make even a GTX Titan sweat. Ofcourse this also depends on your definition of ‘playable’ or ‘good’ FPS. For me in games like those, its 60fps + or quits.
Even in GW2 when not CPU bound a 7970 wil be hard pressed to have high FPS when using SuperSampling.

It could go either way.

Games are benchmarked at the bottom. DragonAge like more cores.

If you often do tasks that can take advantage of more cores, or lots of CPU active tasks at the same time, then more cores is better.
