High CPU usage on low settings
Bump. Something is wrong here. This cannot be just because of how poorly optimized GW2 is. And 61 FPS with everything on completely low with my hardware sure isn’t right.
install service pack 1.
Guess you overclocked your CPU. Maybe it is a little to much. And it would worry me more if the cpu wasn’t running at 95% while gaming. If he was running at 50% then you would have a little problem (1 core broken or something)

Overclocking it hasn’t had anything but a beneficial impact in every other game. Oh and when I removed the overclock GW2 was still running at high CPU usage. And no, the game shouldn’t be using a lot of the CPU. The GPUs do a much better job at most everything you see in the game. Games that are properly optimized I see high GPU usage (80-90%) and low CPU usage (30-40%).
I’m still expecting Anet to announce a version of GW2 for the xbox 360. That would explain why the game seems to be optimized for CPU only.

Already have it.

So I deleted my GW2 folder in My Documents, deleted the temp and data file in the GW2 folder and re-downloaded the game. Now I’m getting *much * better FPS and my CPU usage is around 35% where it was 95% before. I mean the FPS could be a LOT better considering I get 35-50% usage from both GPUs and 35-50% usage from the CPU now, but I’ll take what I can get.

Disabling core parking, might help you further on fps (But again increase load on the cpu.). Try googling it, but do with care.

I’ve never seen any of my cores get parked, so I’m not sure that will make any difference.
Hi everyone i have recently got my pc i know it isn’t the best but i am wanting to know how good my pc will perform and with these settings would i be able to overclock it?
MY SPECS:
AMD FX 6100 six-core processor
3.3ghz
HIS HD Radeon 7950
8gb ram
Windows 7 64-bit
and i was wondering how it will perform on each level of settings and what fps i will get and i was also wondering if i would be able to overclock it to 3.7 or 3.6 ghz without it dying or exploding on me
Thanks.

Every CPU overclocks differently and also depends on the motherboard you are using etc.
As for how well your system will run, look at this thread.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream

Neither had I, yet I got 15 fps after doing it. You can always try it, and reverse the changes. Up to you.
@TinyGoliath – Your specs will run just fine, but we can’t just tell you which FPS you will get. I can tell you you can run it smoothly on more than low settings, that’s for sure. I’m not sure why you would overclock a brand new PC though, if you already have good specs.
Problem is that GW2 isn’t optimised to use a lot the GPU. So yes it is normal that when you play guildwars 2 your CPU go all crazy.
would i be able to run it on high settings if i clocked it up to 3.7ghz?
or is low all i will be able to play on when i clock it up to 3.7ghz with my HIS HD radeon 7950?
You have to try. I have the Fx-8350 who is running at 4.0 ghz without overclocking. Along with a vapor x 7970, i can run guildwars with everything on. I only tested in LA and pve. I haven’t done WvW yet.
fare enough ill try and see how it goes it should turn out okay if it doesn’t overheat.
Yes, make sure you don’t burn the cpu :p
ill try ahaha i probably wont do it though because i know ill kill my cpu ahaha so ill leave it as is I think but i hope it still performs okay
I hope it will be decent enough play most of the settings on high? :/
I think you will not get better graphics with that CPU. From some reviews, I’ve seen it is a very crappy one.
well i have been using it and it hasn’t been bad at all yet it has performed well in most of my games if not all.
op, try installing the first of the 2 bulldozer patches
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2645594
In some high load cases, (Cinebench for instance) it has provided an improvement equivalent to atleast an extra 600mhz overclock on Intel cpu’s.
never mind, the file you need to be using is already updated if you have the latest windows updates, so it should include the necessary fixes
yeh i have already updated everything including my system drivers and such so hopefully with a little luck it will be okay to play gw2
