Waiting To ReRoll Mystic & Forget About Tyria
so, i just did a ‘system requirements’ test to see if my laptop is awful. Turns out it’s not, so why do I get lag on low settings?
.Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
.8.1GB RAM
.GeForce GT 540M 2GB
Why is this happening? Surely I beat the minimum requirements to the degree that I should be able to run on medium?
It’s possibly an overheating issue or possibly a drivers issue. Check to make sure you have all OS updates, reinstall the updated drivers, if windows, check that direct x is up to date. Also, monitor your system temp, particularly your CPU and GPU, they are major culprits of lag. Check them while your system is running idle for several minutes and check it after running the game for about 10 minutes.
You may need to open it up and clean dust bunnies out of the inside particularly around the fans, vents, and ports. A cooling pad with fans helps sometimes.
If your drivers and temps are fine and you can’t solve the issues from other suggestions here, view the sticky for submitting a ticket then have at it.
Once you find your issue and fix it, please come back here to post your fix that worked for others like you who may have this issue in the future.
There are many reasons for lag, these are just a couple easy and quick suggestions to try.
First, what “system requirements test” are you referring to? If you’re talking about one of those websites that scans your computer and supposedly gives you an idea of how well you should be able to run a game, just ignore the website. All they’re doing is comparing your system info to the minimum requirements, nothing more. They have absolutely no understanding of how the game performs on any hardware.
Second, what kind of “lag” are you talking about? Are you getting low fps (you can see your fps in the options menu if unsure) or skill lag/rubberbanding? If what you’re seeing is skill lag, it’s most likely a network problem, not your computer.
Third, where does this happen? If your problem is just low fps in large battles (crowded events, WvW zergs) it’s your CPU. Even the best desktop processors around have trouble with these situations (with 4.5GHz+ overclocks).
Finally, if it is low FPS all of the time, certainly try Kyllaa’s suggestions. It also could be your graphics card, which is not too much above the minimum requirements. Unfortunately there’s not much you can do if this is the case.

How I said in these two topics, I think that there is nothing wrong with our pc, but something with the game.
