Part with hands – it’s burned to death my videocard (GTX580), card was almost dead anyway so i don’t really care about it, but i played year with it without any heat problem, but want new alt.. and in first moments card temperature just raised 10C more then often and BAM, bsod.

Now i use my old card (really old, GTS250) and playing on low settings, and again – overheat on human start quest at hands part +20C even with lowest graphic.

NOTHING in game heat like this.

P.S. Sorry for my english

You may want to look at your power supply unit. If two video cards suddenly have overheating problems then it is possible that your power supply is going bad. If your power supply is not able to properly and reliably supply the amount of power being drawn by the video card, then the voltage regulators on the cards will have to constantly work to regulate the inconsistent voltage being given to the card. This extra work will increase heat on the cards and lead to overheating if the fan is unable to compensate for the extra heat.

I don’t have overheat in battlefield 4 on ultra settings.. it was only there

Software will never directly cause hardware to overheat.

It can certainly show up an existing hardware fault, be it inadequate cooling or defective part. but it wont directly cause it.

People have blamed GW2 for this in the past and its taken a good half dozen- dozen people saying the same thing to convince them otherwise.

So just take my word for it, its not GW2 causing the overheat. It may add extra load in some way, but it wont CAUSE an overheat. its not a magic program that can suddenly force the GPU to use more voltage than its bios is set to, or lower fan speeds to allow heat to build up.

Check ur exact GPu temps, mak sure they are within the GPU spec limits, if they are u have no worries, if not then u got a hardware issue.

SolarNova.1052 is correct. Since Windows Vista, the operating system itself is protecting the hardware from applications and drivers. Applications have to interact with the OS to get to the drivers and the drives must use the Hardware Abstraction Layer and cannot directly talk to the hardware.

It is strange that it is appearing only in GW2, however the Operating system should be protecting the hardware.
