I kinda think allot of the problems people are having are all related to direct x issues.
if you type dxdiag in the search field within start menu and hit enter it will open the direct x diagnostics window.
click the save button and it will create a dxdiag.txt file.
open the .txt file.
if it says: d3d9 overlay not supported ….it should say supported.

I did some research and found others with this problem.
but they made it out to be a amd/radeon thing. As if Radeon cards don’t need to support d3d9? I know this isn’t true because I was using a Radeon card a few months ago and had good performance from it.

so in the spirit of trying to squash this problem I need anyone with a Radeon based card to post your dxdiag.txt

Well..Actually not not so much. I mean, I get pretty good fps in PVE (Mostly 60 FPS pretty much everywhere and 30-50 FPS in crowded Lions Arch)
Huge events and big WvW fights gets down to 20 FPS, but I guess its normal…

then its true.

amd/radeon users don’t need d3d9 support.

and here i thought i was on to something

unfortunatly if it was somthing as major as a DX problem, there would be ALOT more people on the forums complaining.

I posted this another thread, but copied it here:

You don’t need to worry about these two:

D3D9 Overlay: Not Supported
DXVA-HD: Not Supported

These are for video playback related to the overlays that video players use, as well as HD video playback using DirectX 9. This won’t affect GW2.
