Q:

Hi, my friends just bought GW2. We insert the CD we run setup (as admin) the splash screen comes up. We allow the program. It downloads a few KB’s than thats it. dead. No errors, no progress bar, no splash screen, nothing.

He only has the windows firewall which I have disabled. We ran it as admin. The PC is 3 days old high end GPU and everything. Much better than the one I have. It runs on windows 8.

We also tried to download the client from the website but as soon as we click on setup the same happens.
Help pls because we already registered with the code and we cant even return the game now.

Its not the GPU but rather the drivers that I found causing that issue. For AMD (I dont run nvidia anymore) you had to kill the CCC.exe to get past that error. I would try that with the nview manager as well.

What Video card is in the system you are doing the install on?
if its ATI, locate and find CCC.exe in the task manager and end task on it.

If this gets the spash screen past where it downloads the few KB then stops, you must then reboot and update your video drivers.
