Guild Wars 2

Im just here to ask how optimized GW2 is? I know AMD really does not get many games optimized for their CPUs and stuff so I here to ask if anyone else experiencing crazy visual hardware lag no matter the settings you put. I can not event attend to WvW stuff nor big battles. Do not get me wrong I am not blaming the game right off the bat but I am close to being sure its not my PC at all.

Before people post back, Yes! I have updated all drivers, including video card ones. I re-pasted my cpu with new thermal paste as well to be sure that was not over heating along with everything else. No overheating at all.. This was tested with 2 hours of play time. Anyways here is the spec below of what I am running.

Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1866MHz
AMD FX-8350 EIGHT-CORE 4GHZ 16MB 125W AM3+CPU
EVGA GeForce GTX 680 FTW 4GB GDDR5
Intel SSD 520 Series, 6Gb/s SATA SSD 120GB 5V 1A
AMD 990FX(AM3+) Military-Grade Motherboard
Windows 8.1 Professional Version 6.3 Build (9600) All updated applied.

I am just a bit confused as to why I am getting hardware lag? This seems to be the only game I am having trouble running! Any and all help and replies are welcomed. Thanks everyone.

Maybe it’s Windows 8? Regardless of how you other games perform on it.
This game came out before that and it might not be “supported” yet.
It would probably help if you could try this game on Windows 7, but i know you probably won’t reinstall everything on your computer to try that.

What is your FPS ingame? You didn’t post that.
But it just might be the game itself. I noticed this in any MMO, regardless how undemanding it was. The crowded areas take a toll on your FPS. This has more to do with your internet connection and less with your GPU. I know, your internet connection works fine, but you can’t compare web browsing with an MMO.

Your rig is certainly impressive, but more often than not, it’s the newest hardware like yours that tends to cause problems. Tweak the settings a bit in the nVidia control panel and see what works best.

Are the crowded areas laggier than the other maps or is the lag constant?

EDIT: Try to limit the number of cores GW2 cliend is allowed to use. It could help, and it certainly doesn’t need all 8 of them.

It’s an awesome guide, but isn’t that a bit overkill for just one game?
How do other applications behave after you do this?

I haven’t tried everything he recommends, you would have to be a little crazy to use it all. but I’ve used/ tried most of it. some of it can be ignored like the punk buster stuff.
my favorites are tcpoptimizer, Windows 7 registry tweaks, process lasso, and the core parking.
