Issues with creating characters?
My friend can’t play with me cause of that. Seems that this issue is more than a day already
same issue here as well… can log in just fine and play already made characters but cant make any new ones, whats funny is they can tell me if the name is taken or not but they cant make the character…. stupid 42:0:0:0:101 error… they need to fix this and/or put a msg on the client after being frustrated with the character creation I didnt even want to check the forums…and I agree with everyone here, this needs to be fixed asap!
Where’s the communication about this? I ain’t paying money, to be left in the dark about issues.
If this doesnt get fixed soon i may have to resort to going and watching X factor! shudders haha.
Yeah this is extremely frustrating, if I hadn’t played the original guild wars then I would probably be done with the game after this.

I just submitted a ticket over the issue, with an attached NCSoft Game Advisor report and full list of steps I’ve taken to clarify it, and an automated response popped up with this among it:
“We are aware that many of our players are getting connection errors and error 42 in particular. This is due to the high traffic on our servers at the moment.
The same issue is causing some players to be unable to create a new characters. We are working on this issue and hope to have resolved this soon.”
Hopefully they make a more active post, because I am of the opinion that is a rather passive and largely unacceptable way to be the only real acknowledgement of it.

Same here. Also noticed that the security certificate for the support site says it expired yesterday evening, so possibly it’s some issue with the client not receiving a trusted response from Anet? I know that wouldn’t require the support site, but maybe they’re having other authorization issues as well.

In any case: be chill, be calm; it’s not like you’re being excluded, ANet’s just taking the time to study a problem they’ve (probably) never encountered with such severity before.
What are they going to say about an issue they’ve never dealt with before?

Well, it would just be nice to hear from them. I can completely understand where you are coming from, but communication is required. Otherwise, we are in the dark. I am also having the same issue. My wife as well. I hope Anet can fix this today, would be nice to play a bit this weekend.

Same issue here. Sucks that this is happening on Labor Day weekend. Work is so crazy, I try to game as much as I can when I have sometime off, when I have time off…. I cant play..

I can understand your frustration. Trust me, I’m in the same situation as you. But, only an hour and you call it quits? Why are so many mmo players now a days so inpatient. If you gave it a couple days with no resolve, I’d understand. Not to sound like a jerk, but we are probably better off not having you in our community.
BlameAmes: They don’t necessarily need to “say” anything, but most people would like to see an acknowledgement. An announcement when you start up the client, something on the twitter feed or front page or anything. To my knowledge, there’s been exactly two things done about it :
1) They made two posts in this thread. The first one opening a support thread to a tangential issue, the other saying “Checking into this” and no further communication.
2) If you submit a ticket than there’s a message that pops up saying there’s some issues with the servers being overloaded, but this is only if you happen to go out of your way to submit a ticket. Much like how the forum post is only if you go out of your way to submit a forum post.
I had an extremely irritating time last night getting my GW2 tied to my GW2 account which, to be fair, might of been because I was exhausted… But to follow that up by waking up and being unable to create a character compounds the irritation. The error message says its on my end, so I spend a couple of hours fiddling around with my stuff to see whats causing it only to find out that it seems it has absolutely nothing to do with me and in fact its the login servers so I have been wasting my time – not a great feeling.
You know what would be an extremely easy way to avoid that? If there was an up front announcement that the log-in servers are experiencing some issues. I would of failed to log in, seen that, and just gone and done something else for a couple hours. Online games will have hiccups. Online games should not have serious unresolved hiccups a year after their release that are not being actively acknowledged.
I have been playin this game since release and this is the first instance I know of myself that area net have took their sweet time fixing a problem all we can do is wait and hope we can create characters asap
I’m based n Seattle, WA in the USA and play on the Dragonbrand server, but when tried to create a new character I kept getting Error Code 1010:6:6:419:101 and 42:0:0:0:101 despite the fact every other game I pl;ay works perfectly when i load them up to test them, my internet connection is fine, and the only thing I can find is Chrome telling me that the Guild Wars support website has an expired SSL certificate.
This has been going on for every attempt I have made this morning, for every race, and class that I have tested.
This is REALLY frustrating.

On such a long and serious problems need to be told on the main page. Today I bought the game and only after buying found that threw money (a lot of money). The game does not work.

A little premature, don’t you think? That’s almost funny and sad at the same time. In a year I’ve yet to see this problem for creation.
It took us 2 days (without counting having to pause the download) to reinstall this game. Finally have it downloaded, and I am pretty excited because my fiance offered a character slot of his on his account to let me experience the game and to see if I liked it. I have been a long-time player of the original Guild Wars and have been itching to see how this one is in comparison. Tried creating a Sylvari Elementalist and first got the error code 42:0:0:0:101… After I clicked okay, it told me it was possibly my internet (1010:6:6:419:101). I have shut my internet on/off, and was about to screw with the firewall when I decided to take down the error codes and search it on google. Good thing, too. Not just on my end! Hopefully this gets resolved quickly! Some people aren’t as patient as I am!!

So there’s just players replies and none of the Moderators yet , and this topic isn’t so ’’unpopular’’ to be ignored. I guess , they should make something or a minimun of respect with all the players that payed 50$ say something.
