Insane amount of lag with a 30Mbps connection wired… wtf? i can’t even do the event this way!

massive lag even in overflows,rubber banding,can’t do nothing keep dieing….guess I will have to miss this event thnks ……

Lag as in network lag or graphical lag?

Network lag can be due to your connection via the ISP, or the server’s connection unable to handle the # of connections or hardware being loaded.

BTW, 30Mbps is not a speed metric, it is capacity/bandwidth, and is nothing to do with lag. (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/694) Now ping/latency is what speed is about and important to network lag.

Graphical lag would be too much stuff occurring for your hardware to maintain decent FPS.

I was lagging too during the special event with the monsters to kill in Lions Arch. Spells wouldn’t work, if I typed in chat it took several minutes to appear, I couldn’t hit anything or pick anything up, and just found myself dead all the time although I wasn’t seeing anything hit me. Everyone was complaining in chat, people were just dying and if we tried to res folks nothing happened. When I died it was taking several minutes to go to the waypoint. It just wasn’t fun. My PC is normally fine.

And to cap it all the friends I invited can’t log in, they just get “login server is unavailable”

It’s beginning to sound like ANets network is getting overloaded. They may have not have been sufficiently prepared for the event. I’ll find out when I get home how bad it may be for me.

I’m usually at 84 fps with a SamSung i7-3635QM processor gaming laptop and was told by a computer tech who builds pc’s that I was way over the system requirements for this game.So with that said,I’ve noticed that during certain events I lag big time.I noticed the lag during an event that went down in a swamp ( The Godslost Swamp to be exact ).After the event finished no one got anything.This same thing happened during the Shatterer event ( The one with the dragon if I pronounced the event wrong )

Now I figured if it was on my end,such as the video card and cpu speed,things would constantly lag.

For me,I never lag and things run real smooth until one of these events where large numbers of players gather.Could this be a server problem ?
