Hello, I’ve been having a weird issue. Most of the time my game is fine no lag very smooth no problems, but every now and then it gets really laggy and I’m seeing people run into walls my weapons take 5+ seconds to go off, my frame rate is still smooth but nothing is happening. It usually reconnects showing me cliff notes of the events between the time it stopped and started again.

I usually check my internet speed using a few trusted speed tests and it’s fine majority of the time. I also close possibly hindering tasks but little to no change is made each time. For the most part I wait a few hours come back and it’s fine later.

It tends to happen around 6:00 – 9:00 and sometimes I even find the forums and wiki to be slow to respond. and I’ve noticed GW2 is the only game that seems to do this.

I am currently with Primus Canada as a service provider

Windows 7 64bit

processor: AMD A10-5700 APU with Radeon™ HD Graphics 3.40 GHz

RAM: 10gb

(According to display adapters in device manager)
I have a AMD Radeon HD 7660 D graphics card.

first, you are going to have people say its your cpu and your cpu cant handle this game…..

in this case, thats not the issue, its quite possible its the connection between your isp and the anet servers, cuold just be that its a heavy load time on your server, try guesting to another server, if your in the states try using a server in the uk/eu, if your in the eu/uk, try using a server in the states, thankfully, they say they fixed guesting……you wont be able to WvWvW, but with thatr rig, I would stay far away from WvWvW…..

oh and I would upgrade that gpu as soon as you can…..its using system ram and its on the cpu, moving to a 7770 or better would free up ram and give you better overall performance in games.

Is there any way to take the burden off the heavy load for the connection?
My Memory usage at those times at worst hits 55-60% With a stable 45-60 FPS on medium settings. During those times yeah I can’t WvW but I seem to be able to run fine for the most part. (Lowest settings for the big zergs clashes)

its not a matter of the connection being a high load on cpu, its just that the more people active on screen the higher your cpu load is, theres really no fix other then a faster cpu.

you would need a 6-8ghz tricore to run this game at a min of 60fps game wide…..even alot of intels top end chips clocked to 4.6-4.8 dip below 30fps in those situations…..

anet would have to recode the game to fix it, and i doubt they will bother, instead i have a feeling they will just expect that amd and intel will fix it for them as time goes on…..

Having same issue myself, It’s like everything is running smooth then everything just freezes for 5-10 seconds, then it fast forwards through everything that happened. I monitor my CPU usage, Temp, and Frame rates, they all look fine even when game is frozen up. Even just did a full system restore to see if it would help and its still doing it. It is making the game unplayable for me. Just started doing this maybe a week ago, before that I never had an issue with performance.

This is your issue, I just switched to Primus earlier this month (huge mistake) and every online game I have is basically unplayable between 7-10/11pm est.

No, it’s not his internet fault. A lot of ppl have this problem including me.
