Ditto. I play in the philippines too. Was playing at steady 200ms last night but now I’m getting 400-600ms, just like a few days ago. Skills that must be casted while holding still is really annoying since I get to stop for around 2-3 seconds. Casting AOE skills is really troublesome too as I miss MOST of my AOEs. This has been going on for a week now. I’ve checked with my local service provider and we’ve both assured that routing protocols weren’t changed at all.

I’ve tried different DNS servers but all of them gives out the same result(default dns of my service provider is performing the same).

pldt user here, i checked speedtest, but its still downloading 3mb so same speed as always.

this past week, i tried to do tequatly, and i can no longer do it due to severe lag, and i would crash out eventually.

i can still do dungeons, but i can feel the lag, around 180 – 220 fps.

ive been playing gw2 for around 5 months and ive never had any problems with it.

what do you think is the problem?

our ISP is fine, do the -diag on GW2 client so we can see the tracert results and here is my result

As you can see we are having insane packet loss, 60-85%!!!
I suspect this packet loss are the cause of the rubber banding and (sometimes) delay casting of skills

I only have 8 hops yet I really feel the skill lags that’s killing the game for me.

yagit are you a pldt user? i just asked some pldt users from the PH guild in SOR, and another pldt user from FEAR guild in Kaineng, they said they are experiencing severe lag.

i also visited tipidpc.com and there is already a thread there by pldt users experiencing gaming lag, (its not limited to gw2)

i intend to make a call to pldt tomorrow morning and ask if they are aware of this. sooo wierd for this to happen.

You can try calling pldt, I’ve made it before and they said outside pldt’s network is beyond their control.

got this post from tipidpc.com -

“High latency is caused by the cable break in the international peering link within the Asia Pacific region wherein some of the major ISPs in the Philippines using this link are affected. Rest assured that PLDT has already made possible coordination for its resolution. We regret that we could not provide you the definite timeframe, yet. Thank you.”

Got this reply from PLDT’s fb page :/

- this may explain the severe lagging?

Yeah this may be the root cause but who handles this kind of concern and where can we check for updates if the problem is fixed?

btw I’ve noticed if you play 11pm(gmt+8) till morning I don’t lag. Daytime.. well all I can do is gather from nodes!!!!!!!!!!
Can’t do dungeons because its too lag!!

While there may actually be a “cable break” causing this, I’d be suspicious that the ISP is using that as an excuse to throttle bandwidth during peak hours. It does not make sense that the “cable break” only causes you issues during peak hours (tho, it could be they are changing the routing to accommodate commercial connections over residential during business hours due to the “break”).

Peak hour bandwidth can cost an ISP up to 5x more than off-hour bandwidth and this is a very common method of cutting costs for many internet providers. This kind of tactic normally does not cause major issues with most software as the very large bandwidth users either don’t matter (file transfer) or have built in client side buffering to eliminate the user noticing the throttling (data buffering in media streaming apps). Games that require near-RT data to operate properly will certainly notice the limitations.

Unfortunately, if your ISP is blowing smoke up your tail about the real issue, there is nothing you can do about it (sans finding another provider….but most all of them use this tactic in some form or another).

You my friend is absolutely right!
I can only play 11pm till 8am(GMT+8) without the lag/rubber banding
Hopefully everything will be back to normal after the holidays
