Logging in from a new IP address?
Do I need to post more information? I have 12 views and no thoughts on the matter.
After the patch which is a mandatory download, I tried to log in but it said awaiting authentication. This is not right considering I don’t have authentication of any kind set up. I authenticated it to get on the tech support forum here and then went to look up my IP address on my router and modem. I’m using Windows 7 so I go to Open Network and Sharing Center and then I click on See Full Map. I hover over my gateway and it gives me an IPv4 address different than the one that’s called out to authenticate. The location of the authentication is a bit strange but that town it’s using is always the placeholder for the very small town I live in with other sites that I frequent. Basically, that is normal. But what bothers me is that the IP address this site is reading is different and it’s giving me this issue at all.
Can someone explain this out to me better?
we were having this problem alot, couldn’t figure it out, till we checked out our IP. Apparently the IP was changing routes/servers every 3-6 hours -.-, must be some cost cutting thing, but sure is annoying, sent them a complaint and now although it still happens, it isnt near as often.
hope this helps : /
the IPv4 number you are seeing in windows network and sharing center is called your LAN IP which is totally different than a WAN IP.
WAN IP is the one given to you by your ISP and is what everyone else on the internet sees you as. This is the IP Anet emails you. This is shared by all your devices on your home network which each has it’s own LAN IP. Think of this as multiple home phones sharing the same number calling. Usually, the LAN IP starts with 192.168.xxx.xxx

If you go to Google and type in “my ip address” it will tell you the IP address that is used over the internet (the IP address that GW2 uses). Check this IP address. If it changes often, then that means that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) has the lease time for IP addresses set WAY too low. I had an ISP once before that my IP address would change almost every hour, and made it impossible to play MMO’s. It wasn’t long before I dumped them, and got a better service provider.
I still don’t get why this suddenly is happening when before the last patch, I didn’t have to authenticate every time I log into ANET stuff. I’d like to turn this off if at all possible. How do I do it?

Can anyone help me? How do I turn off this email authentication?
Oh, someone told me. Mega durp! Yay for people who get back to me!
I am wondering the same, I have to auth by email every time I log into the forums, and the game. It’s getting old.
Went even into my NCsoft master account to add my ip to the trusted computers list, and I still have to auth every time. I like how it tells me “you opted for email authorization”…No, I certainly did not, and have no clue as how to turn this off.
I’m having the same problem does anyone know how to fix it or do you just have to put up with it?
