Low Fps
you need to push that 4100 up to 4Ghz to see any real gains.
u think i can overclock it?
Indeed try OC’ing.
If you dont get the performance your looking for then your only other option is to upgrade your CPU and motherboard to a Intel i5 or better with an OC to around 4.5ghz. That will give a minimum average of 30 fps in large WvW battles.
As good as AMD are for their price, their single thread performance is lacking compared to intel and its that same single thread performance that GW2 takes alot of its performance from.

This is terrible advice don’t do it! Your computer is just fine there seems to be a major issue with most Nvidia cards….
I have a laptop with GW2 and a desktop with an i5 and a GTX 550ti.
Believe it or not the laptop which has a mobile i5 sandybridge and an intel hd3000 is able to get more FPS and on higher detail than my GTX 550ti… this makes no sense! I know for a fact the desktop has no hardware problems because its running other games just fine on max detail. With this being said dude I wouldn’t bother wasting money or hurting your CPU by OC’ing it… your set up is on the higher end of average and you should be able to play GW2 it makes no sense that a 550ti with a decent processor can’t even run the game at playable speeds on the lowest of detail! You aren’t the only one with this problem hopefully it’ll get resolved soon by Anet as soon as they open their eyes and realize the problem is on their side.
@rickyp.5240
What is your complete spec for your laptop and desktop? Just saying i5 doesn’t cut it.
What settings are they both using.
What fps #‘s and where are you measuring for both?
Your claims doesn’t have much supporting #’s to backup anything.
Your desktop with a 550ti should perform much better than a HD3000. Something is seriously wrong with your desktop. What bus speed is the 550ti running at? See this thread, user claimed low fps in gw2 but works fine in diablo3 etc. Turns out it was the bus speed improperly configured.

My bullkitten sense is tingling.

Im sorry but using your own experiance and your own computer which obviosly has its issues as a basses for claiming that , what i have advised, is terrible… is just plain stupid. You desktop as the above posters have stated seems to have issues if it cant match a laptop and its intergreat gpu. And dont state that OC hurts your CPU ..if you dont know enough about OCing to know otherwise then dont post about it. OC done correctly is perfectly safe. You think i would risk a £500 ($800) cpu on OC’ing if it was that risky -.-
I, along with others in the tech suport forum, will gladly try to help you fix this issue, make a thread and we shall see if we can fix it. But dont jump into another thread a call ‘bulls**t’ on advice due to your own inability to fix your problem.
-.-

For AMD, SuperNova is correct in that you do need to run at ~4.0Ghz. For intel it is optional as the gains will only be seen in WvW and from my testing on an i5 the gains are anywhere from 1-8fps.
I have a video that shows pretty much what hardware is required to run the pve/pvp (excluding WvW) at 60fps (50-70fps range). It is in a couple of these sort of threads now.
This demos both AMD and intel cpus in the ~$200 price range.
