Low fps on my new pc
Unfortunately it may be the AMD CPU the game is not optimized for them. You should have gone with an Intel I5 or better. There are a few thing you can do to improve FPS, are all your drivers up to date including the commonly overlooked motherboard drivers check you bios and make sure the PCIX 16 is set up right, is the video card plugged in to that slot. Did you run any burn in test to make sure that all the components are working properly, it is critical on a new build to run these tests to see if there are any defective components these test should be ran for 24 hours or more. there is industry stander testing software you can download for free that is excepted by most component manufacturers for reason of exchange or RMA of defective components. What apps and programs are running in the background while you are playing the game hopefully you are paying on a clean install of Windows since this is a new build. As a last resort you could try to over clock your CPU but not if you absolutely sure on how to do this and you have a really good cooling system for your CPU the stock heatsink and fan is not recommended.

For as far as I know all my drivers are up to date, I’ve checked that in device management on windows. The only driver that might not be optimal is my GPU driver, since the only driver I could find for that is a Beta version from the official website.
My GPU is installed in the PCIE x16 slot, could you explain to me what you meant by setting it up right in the BIOS?
I did not run any burn in tests, I’m downloading PCMark 8 right now and will run that test when it has finished downloading.
I don’t really run any backgroud applications except for google chrome, skype and teamspeak. And I did do a clean install of windows 7.
Thanks for your help!
As for windows telling you your drivers are up to date that has never worked, you need to go to the manufactures site and check for update drivers. Also the PCIE x 16 in some instances it has gotten changed in the bios to x4

PCMark 8 is more of a performance test then a burn in you will need something more like this

This in not the one I used when I built my system last year just for this game this one is just an example of what you are looking for I can’t remember the one I used and I’m not at home to look but if this one isn’t any good maybe someone else has a better suggestion. The one I used had to be burn to a CD and booted, you don’t what to run any tests under windows they are not accurate because windows has protected memory allocations that can’t be tested.

Drivers seem to be up to date, GPU is in the pcie x16 slot and I can’t seem to find any option in the BIOS that might have changed it to x4. Do you have any other suggestions?
Do you have any anti virus, malware or security software running in the background if so disable it or uninstall it completely most of this is so bloated and resource hog that it bogs down your system I use Window Security Essentials. for most users that is enough protection but if your one of those that use P2P or visit funny sites you may need more. If you know the sites you visit a can fairly be trusted then you can get by with security essentials.

So I did this burn in test you suggested, and to me it seems that there are no problems with my hardware or anything.
I did not have any antivirus or anything installed yet so that doesn’t seem to be the problem either.
You are told why but you don’t seem to believe it. That CPU is similar to the A8-5600K with no GPU, a lower base clock but a higher turbo clock (not that it’ll matter when running the game).
You are looking at similar CPU performance to an Intel i3-3240. The game is a lot more CPU dependent rather than GPU which is why it seems it’s performance is subpar even with a 270x when compared to other games especially FPSers.

So basically I should replace my CPU and with that my motherboard? If so do you have any suggestions for them? My budget is like €300 max.
Thanks,
Kesoria
Edit:
I’ve looked around a bit and I found the following:
Intel® Core™ i5-3570K
(FC-LGA4, “Ivy Bridge”, boxed)
MSI B75A-G43 GAMING, socket 1155
Would this work with the rest of my parts?

U NEED a Z77 board with a k edition CPU, otherwise u cant OC.
So on MSI’s side i recommend the Z77A-G45 GAMING. Or one of Asus or Gigabytes offers.
Although B75 motherbaords may advertise that it can OC, but it can only do it by the base clock, the multiplier is locked. And with the CPU’s out today, u want to be able ot change the multiplier. So u want Z77
if ur NEVER going to OC, dont get a K edition chip, save a few pounds/dollars /whatever and get a 3570 instead.
Though i do highly recommend overclocking, its free performance and rather easy nowerdays.

Ya it looks good, simple tweak in MSI ClickBiosII can make your 3570k jump to 4.4ghz
I have a 3570k @4.4ghz with gtx760 and im getting 30-40 fps at wvw zerg, high/ultra settings
EDIT: as the post above mentioned, get Z77 to overclock
(edited by bOgz.7263)
So to clear things up for me, the following setup should give me about 30 – 40 fps in wvw zerg fights on ultra settings, and it’s all compatible with eachother?
INTEL CORE I5 3570K
MSI Z77A-G45 GAMING
Asus Radeon R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 2048 MB
Corsair Vengeance Blue,1600-8gb 8 GB, PC3-12800, 1600 MHz, Single
WD WD Caviar Black 1TB 1000 GB, SATA, 64 MB, 7200 RPM
Corsair Builder Series CX500 V2 500 Watt, 20+24 Pins
Windows 7 Pro x64
Thanks for your help everyone, appreciate it!
nooooo.
It will certainly play GW2 ‘almost’ as good as can be done atm, but u wont get 30-40 FPS in WvW zergs, no computer can manage that..not unless u turn culling to lowest/lowest so that u cant see 75% of said zergs.
Depening on ur culling settings ull get anywhere from 15 -35 FPS. Personaly i sugest having culling on Highest/Medium or Highest/Low and that ‘should’ net u around 20-35 FPS in most zerg casses. Some very big zergs could drop lower.
There’s a reason GW2 is known as one of the worst optimised games currently available. The game cant handle what the developers are throwing at it (WvW/loads of players in one place)

When you get a chance and have the money to spare, pick up a 256GB modern SSD, or a 128GB if budget restricts it, you will thank me later. Samsung and Intel are the top 2 for reliability

I would advise you to overclock manually. I would be very weary of the voltage change they auto that to.

Would the ASROCK Z77 PRO4-M work too? It fits my budget better.
Thanks,

It would do just fine, the biggest thing is making sure where you order from has a good RMA service.
For instance, in the States we have NewEgg as a large computer outlet, HOWEVER, their RMA service for motherboards is horrendous, especially in regard to bent cpu pins (Outside of that, NewEgg is known for their good customer service). Amazon on the other hand, offers a far superior customer service experience with RMA.

Hi there, looking for an upgrade myself. That INTEL CORE I5 3570K looks a good candidate, found one around 180€ plus about 70€ for a board and it’s kept under my budget.
I really don’t think i’ll be tinkering with overclock, i really want a rig to setup and forget really.
On the other hand though, i’m worried about my GPU, how does a AMD Radeon HD 6670 fair in all of this? Can it keep up the gain in cpu (major change from a Dual-Core E5300 @ 2.6Ghz)?

No Computer can get 40FPS in WvW Zergs. Even on Lowest settings. DO NOT BUILD AROUND WvW ZERGS people.

6670 is medium to low and is a Budget GPU. If your only looking to spend 100~ try and get a HD7790. It wont do Ultra for GW2, but its 3-4x’s better then that 6670.

I was gonna post this a while ago but here I go anyway, I’ve bough an Intel core i5 3570k processor and an Asrock Z77 Pro4-M motherboard. I can play guildwars 2 on ultra settings fine now. Thanks to everyone that helped me solve this problem!
I hate that a core hardware upgrade is required to “fix” a problem.

At least it is working as it should have from the start for you. Enjoy the game
