I have just started having this happen when playing gw2 after the Clockwork Chaos patch.
Mouse uninstalls and reinstalls drivers while playing guild wars 2 and only guild wars 2. Does not happen at any other time using my computer – but during gw2 it happens every 10-15 minutes or so.
I am googling my heart out to find out why this is happening and to find out how to fix it as it is very annoying to not have mouse controls when it reinstalls the drivers over and over.
I have manually uninstalled the drivers to my basic logitech mouse, changed USB ports and everything else I can think of to fix this.
Kinda driving me crazy when I lose mouse controls during the invasions.
It is possible that there is an issue with GW2 to where your mouse is not being detected by your OS as being used so your USB ports are being disabled to save power. The OS then detects that you are attempting to use the mouse and has to re-enable the USB port to power the mouse and it has to re-detect the mouse as if it was unplugged and plugged back in.
Perhaps try disabling the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” option for your USB ports and mouse.
Depending on your version of Windows, go to:
This should help prevent your computer from powering off your mouse and then powering it up again and re-detecting it which seems like it is reinstalling the drivers all over again.
If you need more help performing this action, please, let me know. Also, whether this resolves your problem or not, please update your thread stating if it fixed the issue or if you still require more assistance.

Hi ty for your reply, have done that with the USB Root Hub and my mouse was already unchecked for the save power option.
So hopefully next time I play I won’t have any issues.
Funny thing was last night the whole while I stood in LA it didn’t do that. Only when I went into a zone with the Clockwork Chaos invasion.
Slighty odd.

Depending on your version of Windows, go to:
- Windows Start Menu
- Control Panel
- System (or simply press the “windows keyboard key”+"Pause/break" key)
- Click Device Manager
- Expand “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”
- Look for “USB Root Hub”, there are probably several of them and you should perform this action on every “USB Root Hub” listed.
- Right-click “USB Root Hub” and click “Properties”
- On the “Power Management” tab, uncheck the box titled “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” and click “OK”.
- Repeat for each of the other “USB Root Hub” listed.
- Also, while in the Device Manager, perform the same action for your mouse listed under “Mice and other pointing devices”.
This should help prevent your computer from powering off your mouse and then powering it up again and re-detecting it which seems like it is reinstalling the drivers all over again.

Just a heads up, there’s a way quicker method:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings\Change
advanced power settings > USB settings > USB selective suspend setting: Disabled

Thank you very much. I appreciate your pointing that out. I haven’t ever had need to delve into the Vista/7 power options due to managing all of my power settings with 3rd party software for many years. Glad to see Microsoft finally offering that setting.
