Mumble Overlay Solution Broken
On aimerai bien que vous corrigeriez ça
Im also missing my overlay…. gets hectic when you have 20-30 people joining channels and wondering who’s in them!
I also experienced this problem. The only time the TP will work is if I do not use that mumble work around. Otherwise it seems to still work, just won’t let you use the TP.
I’ve had some players tell me to put mumble on a second screen, but you know what? I don’t have a second screen and can’t see why I should have to do that.
So for now, until a fix has been provided, I’ll just relog without the mumble work around when I want to use the TP.
Or, won’t use the TP at all.
report it to mumble developers, the issue is on there end.
Steam and Fraps overlays work after all, so it can be fixed in the overlay software
Hmmm – I use the mumble overlay and launch the game with the “-nopatchui” switch and can use TP with no issues.
I launch both Mumble and the Game under Administrator – have you tried that?

Yes…still does not work.
@Squall – I understand that it’s on mumble’s end that you have to use -nopatchui. However, it’s a change on GW2’s end that broke the workaround. I was merely asking if this was intended and if anet could help provide a solution. Your examples are a electronic storefront anet has partnered with and a shareware-like utility program that indiscriminately applies itself to any application. Mumble is attempting to respect the users wishes on what programs it applies itself to. Obviously there’s a solution here, but your comparison isn’t apples to apples.
@Parrin – Hmmm. I have not tried this myself. I will have to just to be sure. Makes me wonder why I would have to though. I mean what changed on GW2’s end that requires full access to your machine just because you’re bypassing the login screen? On voicechat programs I always assumed that it was an issue with hardware access/keyboard bindings. I’ve never had to give mumble this access though. /shrug.
I tried this just a few minutes ago.
The whole bypassing the launcher thing makes it a little annoying. Black screen while updating for unknown time? That’s gotta be scary for some people – me included…
Other then that, TP seems to work, the overlay works fine, don’t understand why they took the guide off of the wiki?
It works for me when using this:
“C:\path to guildwars\Gw2.exe” -email [string] -password [string] -nopatchui
Where [string] ist your email and password without brackets. It has to be exact in this order and does not work with -autologin flag. You can use it also with this:
“C:\path to guildwars\Gw2.exe” -email [string] -password [string] -nopatchui -testVerticalFov -useoldlauncher
it also has to be in the exact order.
For people who are afraid of hackers stealing your password see the command line reference in wiki:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
You only should pay attention that no one can physical access your computer cause your password is stored in desktop shortcut!
I forgot to say that you have to exit the game with “quit game” or little x in upper right corner. When using “log off” you will see the black screen with mumble overlay. But in this case you can exit it with Alt+F4 or windows-key.
How long is the blank screen supposed to last for? I can see the overlay, so I know that part is working, but it has been about 2-3 minutes so far and no character select.
