My WvW Performance. Detailed Stats.
Additional experiment…
I tried turning the game resolution down to the absolutely min (which is 1024×768) to see if there was maybe a bandwidth bottleneck with the GPU. I was still getting the same fps.
It’s probably a cpu bottleneck.
Try OCing it more (or dropping your current OC) to see if it changes anything.

Before I changed out the CPU heatsink and fan I was running it at stock speeds with the same fps. The OC did very little to improve things. I hope… hope, it is not a CPU problem (even more so considering the listed specs for this game).
Well I do notice a performance increase when I OC my cpu (i7 980x).
FPS never drops below 45 during WvW @ 4.5ghz.
Drops to like 35 @ stock.

So everyone needs a 4.5 Ghz processor to play WvsWvsW decently at 45 fps ?
I hope that’s a joke because the requirements for the game are really low

Yeah I am thinking the same thing to myself. How many people actually have that sorta power? How many people even know how or are willing to OC. Very very few…
Do realize that i7 980x is based on the first gen i7’s and ivy bridge cpu’s have significantly better performance per core.
The support for 6 threads helps though.
Physical cores > hyperthreaded threads.

-nods- Oh I know.. and it is also like an 800-900 dollar CPU to this day. I would say less than .5% of the player base has stuff like that for this game.
Lets move on to other ideas and other comments.
Edit-
Current CPU usage in these battles is only about 40%
Look up reviews. modern i5’s get better FPS in 90% of the games.
It’s not that irrelevant considering you and I both use first gen i7’s and for me, an OC does improve performance.
Price of the cpu is irrelevant at this point.
Yes and I will still like input beyond just yours. I’m not saying the CPU is not the problem. I just feel like there is more to this equation that just the CPU.
Tried OCing the graphics card?
It can be done easily with msi afterburner.
