My game KEEPS DC'ing every few minutes.
You sound angry, I think it will be wiser to direct that negative energy into something positive by specifying what platform you are playing on…that of course if you wanted someone to actually help you
Well, it’s not just you. I’m not getting as frequent a dc as you, but way often than normal today. Probably 4 times in 3 hours. And yes, it’s a pain. Let’s hope Anet looks into this soon!
@ Vain: What does specifying my platform have to do with it? My internet is stable. Teamspeak does not disconnect only the game every few minutes which would try the patience of a saint. I needed to chill after a hard days work but I guess I should have gone back to bed.

It’s the typical “it must be you, it can’t be Anet” type of response, made famous by many big companies, not just them. Anet is probably having server/connection issues. Nothing has changed on my computer. I’m seeing these dc’s mostly when I change zones. Again, hopefully a patch/server fix is coming.
Oh, and when I get the DC, when I restart, I get that hokey ‘check game data’ message. I’ve tried letting it check, I’ve tried not letting it. Makes no diff.
I’ve been having similar issues. I’ve been getting hit with massive lag spikes (game ‘pauses’ for 5-20 seconds then goes super speed to catch up) and the occasional DC since yesterday. Whereas I was one of the ones that experienced very few issues during the Lost Shores events and generally experience zero lag or DCs.
Not really sure what’s going on for me only that this is abnormal and I’ve changed nothing. I figure it will get sorted though. Might be Anet, might be something between me and Anet.
rofl, I just joined today…I don’t even know who Anet is but, sorry for speaking common sense I guess.
@Vain… welcome, hope you enjoy the game. I wasn’t attacking you, it’s just your post just wasn’t helpful. It’s really not about speaking common sense, because as I referred, it is a canned answer anyone online has gotten. And it almost always turns out to be a false effort. We aren’t doing anything different, have the same system (for me, since launch), and yet we get DC more often today than in the past. That’s a problem for Anet (Arenanet, the maker of GW2 – Guild Wars 2) to fix on their end.
It’s ok, I just learned few scary things about Anet, sorry for my naive statement!
What world are you playing on and is it an EU or US world? http://www.speedtest.net/ You could try running this test several times to see if maybe it is a problem not with your internet but on the way to Arenanet’s servers.
My game is doing the same as OP’s… 2 computers networked and we are both experiencing lag and getting kicked very often. We have been playing since launch and haven’t had any problems with the game until the Karka event. Since the Karka event we have tested all of our internet ports and settings, reset them, dusted our computers, turned off all firewalls and even reinstalled the game yet we are still getting kicked between 3 sec – 10 min of gameplay. This is making the game nearly unplayable as we get kicked either before or in the middle of anything we start. Seems like everything was running fine until the last patch… We have no idea what to turn to now. Anyone have any ideas?
There are 4 points of failure with disconnect issues.
- Computer client
Could be a configuration with in the operating system, firewall, antivirus, malware/virus and/or any third party software interfering on the computer. - Home network
Mis-configured router settings, bad firmware, cable/wireless radio interference, malfunctioning NIC or modem or wiring or any network related hardware. - ISP
they could be limiting/throttling your connection/ports, bad hardware, problem could be outside of your isp’s control depending on location packets might be hopping through a bad route - Game Server
server unable to handle the load whether it be their network or ISP connection.
Disconnect issues can be tricky to troubleshoot as there are so many variables which can contribute to the problem. Maybe one thing or a series of failures. Best advice is to start troubleshooting using deductive reasoning to narrow down and pinpoint the source of the problem. (e.g to rule out computer software issues, test to see if you get the disconnect using someone else’s machine on the same network etc.)

I’m playing on the EU ‘Gunnars Hold’ my ping is 35ms, 12.33Mbps down and 1.2Mbps up.
Thanks for the link
I can rule out the config with AV, Firewall because the problem has only started to happen yesterday and I’ve been playing since 3 day head (& beta’s) start without major problems. There isn’t anything wrong with my home network. I don’t think it’s my ISP else I would also lose connection with my teamspeak.
So that leaves routing outside of ISP control and Game Server.

This weekend was horrendous for the number of people affected by constant disconnects. Hopefully someone will fix it, or at least tell us there is nothing they can do so we can uninstall.
Where are the GW2 Servers located? (city, state) I am having massive d/c issues the past day or so and I’ve reached the point where if I can’t improve the situation (or anet fixes it) i’m going to quit the game. Try to do fractal 11, get to 3d fractal, d/c, cant get back in cause anet cant code for crap. Same thing on normal dungeon runs, get to final boss, d/c, come back to no tokens or xp.
Someone tell me where the servers are and ill test various things to improve network performance and report back with my findings.
